The humming of an insect is what wakes up the tabby from its midday nap near the fountain.

It flicks its tail as to drive it off but apparently that only draws the attention of the little bug.
By now the tabby is awake and alert - ears turned towards the nuisance, tail tip twitching every now and then. The bug has been distracted by something different, landing on a nearby leaf.
A swift strike of a claw has the insect on its back, thrashing around to get upright again.
The bug is nudged again and again, emitting exciting movements and sounds.
The cat has the insect between its front paws, shoving it from one to the other, sometimes letting it nearly fly off only to take it down again with the swipe of a clawed paw.
What is a game to the cat is a painfully long, drawn out death by torture for the bug.
