Jingyu was anxious about WeiZhou leaving. Well, he was usually, but this time he had an extra responsibility, Cai. Plus, the empty feeling he got when WeiZhou wasn't around would put him in a bad mood.
He drove him to the airport at 4am, Cai was in the back, staring out the window. WeiZhou had his hand on the back of Jingyu's neck, stroking the small hairs. He could practically see the tension all over Jingyu's face. He leaned over and kissed his cheek, running his thumb over his cheekbone. Jingyu looked over, smiling sadly.
They arrived at the drop off zone a few minutes later. WeiZhou leaned over, kissing Jingyu. They both knew it was their last one for a while. WeiZhou leaned over, wrapping his arms around Jingyu and squeezing him tight.
"Baby, don't worry, I'll see you soon." He pulled away, kissing Jingyu again. "Every day call me. And video call me at 6, your time every day. I'll pick up no matter where I am or what I'm doing. And make sure you take care of him." He motioned to the sleeping Cai, slumped over in his baby car seat. "I love you, both of you."
"I love you too, ZhouZhou." Jingyu smiled softly, feeling the warm body pull away from him and reluctantly open the door. He watched WeiZhou take his bags out of the back, then walk to the doors. They opened automatically, and WeiZhou turned around, waving goodbye to his hubby and his sleeping kid.
And with that, he disappeared.
Jingyu drove home, turning the radio on. The sun was just beginning to rise. Cai was still asleep in the back. Jingyu was checking on him every ten seconds.
Once they got home, Jingyu set him back in bed, letting him sleep while he prepared a hearty breakfast, thinking about activities he could do with Cai to keep him occupied.
Cai opened the door to his room, rubbing his eyes, an adorable pout on his face. Jingyu smiled at him.
"Good morning, Cai." He said, letting the little boy waddle over and hug his leg. Jingyu put a hand on his head, pulling him in close and rubbing his head. Cai looking up at his dad.
"Where's daddy?" He asked, looking around the kitchen. Jingyu rubbed his head again.
"He went on a trip. He'll be back. But it's just you and I for a while. What do you want to do?"
Cai looked around. Jingyu knew he could feel the emptiness too. There was something about not having WeiZhou here, his usual light and aura no where to be found.
"I want to eat!" He said, detaching from Jingyu's leg.
"Good, breakfast is almost ready. Go sit."
They ate breakfast, Jingyu watching Cai closely with loving eyes. Maybe since he was getting older, he was getting baby fever. His biggest fear was that younger WeiZhou didn't feel the same. Luckily, that was not the case.
He was deep in thought about what to do today when it hit him....
The beach! He looked up at Cai.
"Caihong, how would you like to go to the beach today?"
"Yay!" Cai shouted through a mouthful of rice omelette. "I want to swim!"
"It's a plan then." Jingyu said with a wide smile. "If you're done, go get dressed in your swim suit while I clean up."
Jingyu was busy trying to find everything. Sunscreen, hats, his swimsuit, towel, maybe an umbrella? Usually Timmy did stuff like this. The familiar ache bulged against his chest.
Cai came into his room, jumping up on his bed. "When are we going?"
"Right now, buddy. I just gotta make sure I got everything." Jingyu checked off his mental list, seeing everything was in order and how it was supposed to be.
He lifted the beach bag onto his shoulders, put on a pair of sunglasses (which Cai had a pair of as well), and walked out the door, making certain to lock it.
They drove to the beach, Cai staring out the window the whole way with the cutest expression. Jingyu stared at him via mirrors, chucking at his expressions.
Finally, they made it to the beach. Cai was squirming in his carseat as he stared at the sea, wanting to get out. Jingyu helped him out, grabbed the beach bag, and followed where he was running.
Jingyu had always, always loved the ocean. It had been a safe spot for him when he was a child, a place he could be himself. It had been a sweet parting from the Addicted series when they filmed the 'Walk Slowly' MV. And, much more recently, it had been the place the love of his life had said yes.
It was a rather cloudy day today, but the humidity made up for the lack of sun. Jingyu sprayed sunscreen on Cai, making sure the sensitive skin of his baby wouldn't burn under the reflective sun.
There was a few other people around, including a party of girls, which made Jingyu insecure to take his shirt off, even thought Cai begged him to come swimming with him. Cai was constant responsibility, which left zero time to work out. He may have gained slight weight, but it wasn't very noticeable.
Cai was the first to reach the friendly blue water, walking into it until it was as high as his waist. With a huge grin on his face, Jingyu watched, walking in to his knees.
Cai's dark brown hair was black with water, and when he rubbed his eyes, he could see clearly into the ocean. The little boy's breath was taken away. No matter how far he looked, all he could see was water, stretching on forever and ever. Jingyu walked over and sat in the water next to the kneeling Cai, admiring it closely like his son was.
"Isn't it beautiful?" Jingyu said, looking over at his little boy, who nodded in response, leaning over so his head rested on Jingyu's arm, his tiny arms wrapping around it. Jingyu felt a flutter deep inside as he leaned down to kiss the top of Cai's head.
"I love you, little CaiHong. You know that, right?" Cai looked up.
"I know that." He looked back out at the sea. "And dad?"
"Yes?"
Cai pressed closer. "I love you too."

A/N:
As I write this I am driving back home, admiring all these beautiful mountains, after spending quite some time at a beach the last few days. Of course it sparked some Jingyu/Cai fluffy stuff. Ah, Jingyu is so dad goals.
