"Hey, Balto?" [y/n] asked the creature beside her. The two were alone on the bank of a lake with a line of palm trees at their backs. The human was on her knees and peering down into the rippling purple liquid in front of her.  Her fingers were in her mouth, prying her lips open so that she could see her teeth. Four sharp fangs had replaced her canines, and she was staring very intently at them.

Balto was neck-deep in the lake and watching her with a funny look on his face. He was very tall for human standards, but average size for his species. His skin was a pastel green which contrasted heavily with the liquid. "What?" He mumbled, his voice was a lot deeper than a human's, but [y/n] was used to it.

"Do you think the fangs have grown this month?"  [y/n] asks, as she stared harder. Balto rolled his eyes, something he learned from her. "It doesn't matter, besides I don't know why you worry about them." He says, and gives her a sharp-toothed grin. "It makes you blend in, I think they're cute."

Gritting her teeth, she glared at him. "I already told you. It's not normal for humans. And it makes me look more Galra."

The ground shook suddenly, jerking [y/n] tumbling closer to the liquid. In an instant, Balto reached out with a lengthy arm and kept the girl from falling in. "Back up, you know this stuff is toxic to you."

She retreated farther back on the bank. "What was that?" She glanced back towards the line of trees. Balto walked out the the lake, shaking purple drops off his skin. "Yeah, let's get back to the village, hopefully the Galra haven't find us."

[y/n] grabbed a bow out of the sand, while Balto took a sword off his back. The two crept back towards the palm trees, the sand turning to sand under their feet. They peeked out behind huge, huge green leaves. Despite the fact that she was prepared to see Galra rampaging through the small village, it was something much different.

Among the wooden cabins and such were five brightly colored cat-robots. "Voltron," Balto breathed in absolute awe. [y/n] tilted her head slightly, "Vol-what?" Balto streaked out of the bushes and rushed toward the robots. The rest of the village were surrounding something. Carefully, [y/n] followed Balto through the small crowd.

As the girl saw the people in colored amour, she gasped loudly. Tears sprung to her eyes as one of the humans set eyes on her. Not only had she found other humans-- she found Shiro.
