i know... sam and kat broke up. ouch. BUT.. they aren't breaking up in the story, you're welcome, i gotchu guys i'm here to feed your delusions.

also, any descriptions of the house is just from what we see in kats videos from the time, as sam and colby have never really posted about it there was never a full house tour, so i'll try to keep descriptions of it brief but most of it will be up to imagination.

y/n's hands were shaking, standing with colby to her left, the two girls standing by the side of the door with the camera, something that was definitely going to take some time to get used to. her eyes were glued onto sam, unable to look away anticipating his reaction, what was just seconds felt like hours.

"please tell me that's really you" sam finally spoke up, his voice shaky. the colour had washed from his face, his pupils at large and a glossy shine over his eyes.

y/n's nerves took over, that feeling in her stomach ready to explode, she couldn't help but worry, what was he going to think? is he mad? does he want this? what if he feels like she's intruding?.. before she could think anymore sam had taken a step out of the door, to see her clearer. a simple and quiet 'hi' was all she could muster up.

he didn't react with words, instead wrapping his arms around her, the same way he always used to, ever since they were young kids. one arm over her shoulder and the other under, reaching the opposite shoulder, it wasn't the most ideal hugging situations given a difference in height now, but it was a habit that stayed all those years, one that colby noticed.

"what are you laughing about" stas said to colby, in a tone that wasn't rude, just curious.

"they always hugged like that" colby said, y/n and sam oblivious, "looks a little awkward now"

"how did this happen- how did you- what?" everyone giggled at sams confusion.

"cmon let's go inside and i'll explain everything " colby said, picking the bags back up.

11:37AM

the sight of their house shook her out of her thoughts, tall ceilings, large open doorways, yet all of them acted like it was the most normal thing in the world.

despite the size of it, deep down, it felt like home.

"should've seen our first LA house" sam said, leading her into the living room, y/n was took back for a second, wondering if she was being that readable. she was quickly taken out of her thoughts again after being led to the couch, past the stairs and beside the kitchen. colby had left her bags by the stairs and joined them all in the living room.

sam still had a shellshocked look on his face, pale and shaky. y/n couldn't help but think how crazy it is for them all to be completely unphased by the presence of a camera.

"is it okay for us to record?" kat asked as if she could read y/n's thoughts, "we record things a lot, even if we don't always post it"

"um yeah it's okay" y/n said "i'm just not used to it" she chuckled, looking down trying not to seem so awkward

"it takes some getting used to" colby added.

stas put the camera down for a moment, asking colby for the whereabouts of a tripod to set the camera up.

as she went of to look for one, y/n turned back to sam, his face still stuck in the same shocked expression, she studied his face for a moment, a wave of nostalgia coming over her the second she looked into his eyes, tears welling up in her own.

he opened his mouth as if to speak, but no words came out, a feeling of guilt in his stomach. he wrapped his arms around her again, holding her as if she would disappear.

"i'm so sorry y/n" he choked back a sob "i'm so sorry"

"i'm sorry too sam" y/n said as she gripped him a little tighter "i've missed you"

"so much" he added, pulling away and putting his hands on her shoulders, looking at her face "you haven't changed one bit" his voice softer, almost a whisper.

they stayed like that for a while, talking about what has happened, it wasn't until the beep of the camera being turned on brought them all back to reality.

colby came and sat the other side of y/n, only the three of them in frame. she watched his face as he talked to the camera, feeling the joy radiating from his body. he was explaining who she was but his words were drowned out in her head as she stared at his face, taking it all in, the way his hair fell on the side of his temple, the shadow of his shaved facial hair, the freckle underneath his eye, the way his necklace rested on his neck, he looked beautiful, he was real, she was home.

it wasn't until sam spoke again that gained her attention again. "how the fuck did this happen?" he asked, letting out a breath.

"well, i guess when we went back home a while ago, i looked back through old stuff in my bedroom and i realised that you know i miss-" colby started, but cut himself off "actually could you turn the camera off" he asked, his demeanour changed, motioning for one of the two girls to turn the camera off.

he turned his body towards the other two on the couch, eyes glassy. "i missed you y/n, i really really fucking missed you, and i regret everytime i thought about contacting you and didn't do it, once a couple years past i always told myself it was too late, that you would have a whole different life by now, which you did" she opened her mouth to reply to him, but he continued before she could "and i found that stupid yellow hoodie in my closet and i couldn't help myself, i sat there on my bedroom floor, the old sleepover spot and cried" he was choking on his words, the three of them crying now "i distracted myself all these years by doing all this fun stuff and living the life i always wanted, the life you wanted for me, thinking i could get by without you but i can't y/n, i couldn't do it any longer" he stopped to wipe his eyes.

y/n's face never changed, the same sorrow look staying, she reached to grab colby's hand and turned to grab sam's, but in the same second he abruptly stood, wiping his eyes and walking to a nearby bathroom.

y/n walked after him, colby still stuck in his spot on the couch, sam hadn't closed the door, just wiping his face with tissue while facing the mirror.

"are you mad?" y/n asked sheepishly, standing at the doorframe

"no" sam said, barely audible "i just need a minute"

"do you want me to go?" y/n asked again, not wanted to overstep

"please don't go" he looked her in the eyes "i can't handle you leaving again"

he pulled her into the bathroom into a hug, sniffing has he tightened his grip

"i meant from the bathroom dipshit" she said jokingly, trying to lighten the mood

"i know i know" he said, pushing her shoulder as he pulled away.

"look at us" sam spoke, looking at the two in the mirror

"i'm a mess" y/n said, in unison with sam saying "we're so old"

"shut up" she said pushing his shoulder, mocking his previous action.

any worries she had started to melt away, her anxiety finally starting to pass, colby had witnessed their little interaction, appearing by the door to the bathroom a few moments prior.

the three of them stood there, in a tiny bathroom, sam and colby stood either side of y/n, all looking at eachother in the mirror. things had changed, a lot. the boys were taller, more mature, all of them were, their statures showed more personality, they were themselves, and now y/n felt like she could be too.

colby took them both into another hug, more hugging sam and squashing y/n in the middle, something they always used to do, laughter filled the small room.

y/n had never felt safer, she was finally home.
