'I hate missing someone and not being able to do anything about it' - Unknown

"Tyler asked me out," I said to Mum as I entered the kitchen.

"As in girlfriend and boyfriend?" Ryan asked.

"Yep,"

"Finally," Lilly said.

"It took him this long?" Ryan asked.

"I'm happy for you Lex," Mum said smiling.

I sat down to eat with everyone. I couldn't really eat much though. I shoved a few forkfuls of the lasagna down me but that was all I could manage to eat. When everyone finished eating, they went to the living room and I helped Mum tidy up.

"Did you tell Tyler about my favourite flowers?" I asked.

"He came two days ago late at night when you were asleep and he told me he wanted to ask you out in a special way so I just told him about your love for white roses and orchids," she said.

I smiled at the thought of that.

"Do you remember your appointment tomorrow?" She asked.

"Is it tomorrow? That's so soon," I said.

"Yeah it's tomorrow," She said.

I left the kitchen and went upstairs. I lay down on my bed and took out the white rose from my pocket that I took from the smoker's room. I held it in my hand and stroked the soft petals and slowly I began to fall asleep.

***The Next Day***

I woke up and sat up. I had fallen asleep yesterday by accident and I was still in my yesterday's clothes. I checked the time on my phone and saw that it was 10:30 in the morning. I remembered that I had an appointment which is probably why Lilly never woke me up.

I texted Tyler to let him know about my appointment and that I'd be in school a bit late. After that, I headed to the bathroom and took a shower. If I'm taking a quick shower then I'd take off the tubes going in my nose.

If I needed to take a longer shower, then I'd just end up taking a bath and leaving the tubes in. It's a bit tricky and most people take long showers for granted. I know I will never again.

After I took a quick shower, I wrapped my body in a towel and wrapped my hair up too. I went to my bedroom and dried myself with the towel and got changed. I wore a black skirt with a white top.

Quickly, I blow dried my hair and left it out. I straightened my hair and headed downstairs where Mum was. She smiled at me and complimented me saying that I looked gorgeous.

"Let's head out," she said.

I felt slightly nervous on the way to the hospital. Today, Dr Ray would tell me if the radiotherapy worked or not. I was feeling pretty positive.

When we arrived there, Mum parked up and we both headed in. Dr Ray was talking to the receptionist and looked up when he saw us. He told us to follow him and we walked the familiar path to his office. He unlocked the door and we sat in the chairs in front of his desk.

"Let's get straight to the point," he said.

He took out two scan pictures and they basically were an image showing my lungs with white blobs scattered all over which were the tumours.
