Chapter 10: A new student at Seashell Bay Middle School

Rachel's POV
It's been a few weeks since we'd seen the mercenare's, they had been taking a break from fighting after what happened to Ira. Maya, Mackenzie, and I were all in class, I was looking out the window by my desk when the teacher came into the classroom,
Teacher:"good morning class."
All:"good morning."
Teacher:"we have a new student joining us today, please make him feel welcome."
The teacher turned his head to the door,
Teacher:"you can come in now."
My eyes widened as I saw who it was, I heard two gasps around the room, they came from Maya and Mackenzie. The new student was Ira!
Ira:"hi, some of you already know me but, my name's Ira. Oh, and, if you were wondering why I have bat wings behind my ears, all I can say is, they are a part of me, and it'll really hurt if you try to take them off."
Teacher:"thank you, Ira. Please take the seat beside Rachel."
Ira:"alright."
Ira took the empty seat beside me, he had a school uniform on, and glasses. (The outfit he's in in the picture above.)

*Time skip to lunchtime*

I was with Maya and Mackenzie at our lunch table as usual, when I saw Ira, I invited him over, and when he sat down, we started asking him questions,
Mackenzie:"What are you planning!"
Maya:"did Bel and Marmo tell you to come here?!"
Me:"what were you doing these past few weeks, but more importantly..."
All but Ira:"WHY DID YOU COME HERE?!?!"
Ira:"oh, I just had to get away from Bel."
Ira said, eating a sandwich that he probably packed himself,
Mackenzie:"but why would you need to get away from Bel? Isn't he your Guardian or something?"
Ira immediately stopped eating and turned his head to me after hearing that and said,
Ira:"you TOLD her?!?!"
Me:"I had too, I was fed up with her always acting like mercenare's are the worst thing in the world! I'm sorry!"
Ira:"*sigh* it's fine, just please tell me you didn't tell anyone else."
Me:"I didn't."
Ira:"good."
Maya:"why do you care so much if anybody knows?"
Ira:"...n-no reason...
I could tell that Ira wasn't telling us something that needed to be told, he's not usually like this, we all ate lunch and went back to class. For the whole day, Ira just looked like he had something on his mind, even though he did the work the teacher gave him. Soon enough, school was over. I saw Ira packing up in the classroom, beside his desk, I walked toward him and he noticed me,
Me:"u-um, Ira, do you wanna walk with me?"
Ira looked confused for a moment,
Ira:"but, what if Glitter Ace sees me? Won't we get in trouble?"
Me:"Natalie doesn't know where I live, nor is her house anywhere near mine. So, I think we're good."
Ira was silent, but nodded in agreement, once we got out of the school and onto the sidewalk, we started heading towards my house, I looked at Ira again, he was slightly looking down, but not too much that he wouldn't see where he was going. Finally, I broke the silence between us,
Me:"so uh, what made you come to Seashell Bay? I thought you needed a break."
Ira:"what? I can't get payback for you coming to Splendorious and disguising yourself as a mercenare? I'm hurt."
Ira said, playfully. I sighed in response,
'There's the Ira I know.'
I thought. I was relieved, we talked for a few minutes before my house came into view, but before I could say anything, a large hand grabbed Ira's shoulder and pulled him back,
???:"Ira, what are you doing here?"
I looked back to see Bel touching Ira's shoulder, Ira was being resistant and trying to pull free, but Bel's grip stayed strong.
Ira:"Bel, I told you, I don't wanna talk!"
Ira said, finally getting away from Bel,
Bel:"Ira, don't be difficult, why are you avoiding me?"
Ira:"be-because..."
Bel:"because why?!"
Ira:"because..."
Ira:"BECAUSE YOU KILLED MY PARENTS!!!"
Bel:"..."
Me:"..."
Bel:"...so...you DO remember..."
Ira:"yeah, and I have proof that you did it!"
Me and Bel:"huh?!"
Ira pulled out a 44 magnum and a black mask from his school bag,
Me:"what?"
I whispered to myself, I looked at Bel, who was looking at Ira,
Ira:"I found these in your room. They're the weapons you used to kill them, aren't they?"
Bel:"...y-yes."
Ira:"so you admit it, that you murdered them."
Bel:"...yes but...I had to kill them, I had no choice."
Ira:"how could it NOT HAVE been your choice?!?!"
Bel:"Ira, you don't understand the danger you're in, if you push me away now-"
Ira:"then what?! You'll kill ME?! Is THAT your solution to everything?!"
Bel:"IRA!"
Ira:"NO!! I DON'T WANNA HEAR IT!! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE, I NEVER WANNA SEE YOU AGAIN!!"
Bel:"..."
Ira:"..."
Ira:"I'm moving to earth with Marmo, first thing tomorrow morning. So all I have to say is this..."
Ira:"if you come near me ever again...I'll do something...unexpected."
Bel stayed silent, Ira walked away from Bel and I followed, Bel eventually teleported away, me and Ira finally got to my house. Before I went inside, I stopped,
Me:"Ira...what unexpected thing were you planning to do if Bel came close to you?"
Ira was silent for a moment before smiling,
Ira:"don't worry about that, I probably won't even need to do it. You should get to bed, it's getting late."
Me:"...ok. See you tomorrow."
Ira:"see ya!"
Ira teleported away, and I went inside,
Me:"hi mom."
Mom:"hey honey, how was school?"
Me:"oh, it was fine."
Mom:"hm?"
Mom:"fine? Usually you say "great." What's wrong?"
Me:"oh, it's just that a good friend of mine is going through a lot of crazy problems, and I want to help them but I don't know how!"
Mom:"hmm, the best thing you can do for them is try to keep their spirits up."
Me:"thanks mom, I'll keep that in mind."
I walk upstairs, into my room,
'It's true. All I can do is help Ira stay happy, while he figures things out on his own. I just hope that he gets through it.'
I thought as I walked into my bedroom and laid on my bed. Soon enough, I fell asleep.
