First chapter from my newest book 'Michael Dale' is finally out!
Nothing can come between,
You and I
Chapter 25
~Olivia~
"We need to talk."
Brittany scoffed, "Like I need to talk to you about anything."
I raised my eyebrows in disbelief, "Really? Does a 'closet' remind you of anything?"
I saw how her face paled a bit before she composed herself and sneered at me, "I have no idea what you're talking about."
Ignoring how venomous her voice sounded I continued, "You don't have to lie. We know all about you hiring a guy in Italy to hack into my phone, and I'm pretty sure I smelled Lavender perfume before getting pushed inside with James."
I leaned in and took a sniff of the air, smelling her scent and I mumbled, "Lavender."
Brittany looked nervous and furious at the same time, I could see her veins popping out tensely, "That could be anyone, and why would I ever want to trap you two in a closet."
I faked a shrug, "Maybe because you wanted Julian to find us. Maybe so he'd run back to you. Or I could be wrong." Brittany flinched back at my words, not from fright but because it was the truth.
"You want to know something else," I asked, stepping closer, pulling my chin high. This was it, I was going expose her right then and there. Lay out the whole hard truth and tell her how much of a cold-heartless person she was. But... "I forgive you."
Brittany's eyes widened with surprise and I had to stop myself from blurting out what I said was a joke. Her eyes glistened a bit but I didn't point it out. I didn't want to end the year with a bad note. No regrets. And I knew that I'd smile at myself later, just for doing one thing right between us.
Holding out a fist bump, she looked confusingly at me. I motioned between her hand and mine and she just rolled her eyes and gave me a quick bump before walking away mumbling a 'whatever' but I saw a ghost of a smile plastered on her face before she disappeared in the crowd.
"There you are!" Julian came up from behind me and I smiled as he wrapped his arm around my waist. "I thought you ditched me for the movies."
"It crossed my mind," I grinned and I knew he was smiling.
"Come on, let's dance," He mumbled next to my ear and I stopped my knees from buckling.
"Trust me, you do not want to see that," I snorted as he pulled me to the dance floor with such grace that I almost tripped. His suit was tight on his body as he moved them around, and I couldn't help but see his muscles underneath the thin layer of clothing.
I tried to sway my body like his. He must have taken dance lessons or something because he danced on the beat, moving his body smoothly with the rhythm and even some stopped dancing to just stare. God he's an angel. An angel that fell for a broken human.
He laughed and took my hands in his, "Like this." And then he showed me when to tap my foot or to just simply sway my hips on time. And after I don't know how many exhausting and embarrassing songs, I was mostly just staring at him. He was mine. And I was his.
Suddenly the beat slowed and another song played. "I love this song," I whispered. I stared at his golden specks and he stared right at me, right into my soul. He could break my heart anytime he wanted but I didn't care, he had my heart tonight.
