Chapter Five

It was finally the twelfth, more than a week had passed since the Instagram message fiasco and unsurprisingly Daniel had never felt more insecure. Amber parked her truck outside of the gym silently waiting as they watched a few more people go in. Kade had never replied to the message and honestly, Daniel didn't know how to read the situation. He was continuously stuck between thinking Kade found him creepy and didn't want to answer cause he thought Daniel was a stalker or that he really was engaged and didn't know how to say it.

Daniel sighed stepping out of Amber's truck pulling a few pieces of lent from his outfit. He'd tried his best to dress casual, going for a cute graphic tee with a bright neon pink cat and ripped black skinny jeans. He paired the look with comfy black wedged boots instead of sneakers so it didn't seem too unlike him, and he'd even gone so far as to not wear as much makeup. Even still he couldn't help but wonder if he had tried so hard to look like he wasn't trying that he looked like he was trying. He knew he was over thinking it, that didn't stop him from doing it anyway. He took a few deep breaths trying to calm himself as Amber stared him down.

"We can leave, Honey." She stated coming around the front of the car, walking past him to lean again the back passenger side door of her truck. Truthfully he contemplated it for a few seconds but instead, he just shook his head no in reply, he had already made up his mind to do this. "Well, then let's go and oh by the way I don't care how good a fighter this bastard is he's telling us why he didn't answer you."

"Ugh, Amber please don't bring it up." He groaned, shooting her a look that stated he was very serious about it as he began walking towards the gym, he saw her roll her eyes at his response but knew she would back off if he told her to when it came down to it.

Entering the gym was easy enough, the lined moved fairly quickly and the ticket scanned on his phone after the second attempt, digital barcodes never worked easily due to his screen protector. Ivy recognized Daniel as soon as he and Amber walked through the door. They loudly waved them down calling out for them to sit next to them where Daniel quickly made introductions. He didn't miss it when Amber's eyes lingered on Iris a bit longer or the way Iris blushed slightly when she shook Amber's hand but he pretended he didn't see anything anyways. Through most of the fights, Daniel chatted with Ivy who seemed completely oblivious to her sister's current state.

He did tune out of the conversation when Harry's match came up oddly curious if his older brother was any good. To Daniel's untrained eyes he seemed like he knew what he was doing, Daniel was even slightly impressed. Harry got in quite a few hits and evaded his competitor a few times as well but the match ended in his lost anyways. Admittedly, Daniel was a bit put off by the blood and violence of the sport but he could see why people found MMA intriguing. After the fight, he couldn't help but question the twins on the sport and found they knew way more than he had somehow expected them to.

"You guys really know your shit when it comes to this stuff huh?" Amber asked sounding equally astounded as Daniel was feeling causing the twins to chuckle slightly.

"Kade's been fighting since before we were born so we grew up going to all his matches and shit," Ivy told them, her voice sounded ridiculously proud of her older brother as Iris nodded in total agreement the same proud look glowing in her eyes. Daniel smiled at them unable to help thinking it was so cute how obviously they adored their big brother.

They chatted about a few other things not really paying attention to the event until Kade's match came up and all four of them quieted to watch. And it wasn't just them oddly it felt like everyone was more intrigued by this match than any other match that had gone on so far. There were two matches left after his so naturally, Daniel wondered if it was a matter of them putting the best fighters last in the event or if Kade was just that good. Either way, it seemed like it meant the same thing to most people, Kade was worth watching.
