Dayveon POV

Walking into the living room, I saw Daniel sitting on the couch waiting for me.

"You ready lil man?" I asked.

"Yep." He smiled, instantly hopping up and coming over to grab my hand.

Usually, Airi was the one to take him to school but today I offered to take him for her just so she could get a few extra hours of sleep.

"You look happy to be going to school." I chuckled, picking up on his excitement as we walked to my car.

"I am." He smiled, "I get to play with Mason some more."

"You better be paying attention in class before you go off playing with Mason." I said, getting him strapped into his car seat. "I love that you got a friend, but don't let that make you fall behind in your class work."

"I wont." He promised, making me smile softly as I closed the door.

Getting in my seat, I immediately cranked my car then let it warm up for a few minutes before I pulled out of the driveway.

I parked my car in front of his school ten minutes later. Helping him out of the car, we walked hand in hand through the doors and down the hall to his classroom.

"Good morning Mr. Mathews." His teacher greeted, smiling when she saw me walk through the door.

"Mornin' Ms. Greene." I nodded and scanned the room.

"You brought Daniel today?" She asked.

"Obviously." I mumbled, barely paying her any mind. "Okay, you be good today, you hear me?" I said to Daniel, and he nodded almost immediately.

"I'll be good." He promised.

"Okay, give me some love." I smirked and squatted down to his level so that he could give me a hug.

"Bye Uncle, DJ."

"Bye buddy." I smiled and stood up. When I turned to walk out, I smiled once again when I saw Carmen walking into the room with Mason. "Fancy seeing you here." I spoke, catching her attention.

"Oh, hey Dayveon." She spoke.

"Hey DJ." Mason smiled.

"Wassup lil man." I smiled back. Seeing that he had his small fist held out to me, I reached down and bumped mine with his, making his smile wide.

"Look, my mommy did my hair." He said, his voice full of excitement.

"Yeah? She did a good job." I nodded, glancing at Carmen who had a small and barely noticeable smile on her face.

"Okay baby, you be good and listen to everything that Ms. Green says, you hear me?" Carmen said, squatting down in front of him.

"Okay."

"Alright, Miss Airi is going to pick you up again today and you're gonna get to play with Daniel after school"

"Okay." He smiled, "You're gonna come get me though right? Like yesterday?"

"Yeah, baby. I'll be there to get you tonight." She promised him. "Now give me kissy."

Wrapping his little arms around her neck, he pecked her lips quickly then hugged her tight while she did the same back to him.

"I love you, stink." She said, poking his nose.

"I love you too, mommy." He replied. They said their final goodbyes to each other and then he ran off into the class room towards Dan.
