Chapter 1: Family Feud

Y/n's POV
Ever since I turned 12 about three months ago, my dad has been pressuring my mom to move to Mistral as he's being made the next headmaster of Haven Academy, mom's against the idea as I told her the promise that I made Yang a week before dad told us to move and that Yang and I promised that we'd go to Signal Academy together.

Almost every night for the past three months mom and dad have always been fighting and it's only been getting worse and part of me feels that it's my fault. Not only has the fighting seen getting worse but it's been getting far more regular that I can't take it anymore, I pulled out my scroll and got in touch with Taiyang, Yang's father.

"Hey Mr. Xiao Long, is it alright if I can stay over tonight? The fighting is getting worse."

I placed my scroll on my bedside table and started packing a small bag with just a spare change of clothes, a blanket, pillow and toiletries. I did t want to be a massive burden on Tai and Yang, I'm thankful enough that they let me stay over every now and then more so now. I'd just finished packing my bag when I got a reply from Tai.

"Hey kiddo, shame your folks are still fighting. You know that you're welcome anytime, I'll get the spare room set up for you. See you soon."

I picked up my scroll and made my way downstairs and sure enough my parents were at each others throats again. I bet they didnt even hear me open and close the front door as I made my way over to Yang's place.

Tai's POV
I never liked it when Y/n's folks got caught up in a fight but the kid knows he's welcome here anytime. His dad doesn't like it but to hell with what Leo thinks, all because he being made the next headmaster of Have Academy he thinks he can get away with anything and everything, bastard doesn't even care about Y/n's feelings and he's trying to force him to move to Mistral on top of it all.

I'd just finished getting the spare room ready when I heard a knock on the door. No doubt it's Y/n, seeing as how he doesn't live that far away from us, not even five minutes down the road. I went to go get the door when Yang rushed past me at speeds that would put even Ruby to shame.

"Whoa there Firecracker, what's the rush there?"

"Didn't you hear the knock on the door? I think it might be Y/n."

I smirked as Yang almost wrenched the door off its hinges and sure enough she had a massive smile plastered all over her face, all the while leaving a smiling Y/n, if I didnt know any better I'd say that they're already dating. If that was the case I wouldn't trust anyone other than him to take care of my little Firecracker.

"Hey there kiddo, spare rooms already for you, I'll go start dinner."

"Thanks again for letting me stay over Taiyang, I have a feeling that this fight won't end well, it was getting pretty bad when I left."

Yang immediately took Y/n's hand and yanked him inside before pulling him into a bone-crushing hug and slamming the door closed behind her which woke Ruby up and woke Summer up as well.

"YANG XIAO LONG! I JUST GOT YOUR SISTER TO SLEEP YOU'D BETTER HAVE A GOOD REASON FOR SLAMMING DOORS!!"

Yang rubbed her head in embarrassment when Summer came down with Ruby following close behind while rubbing her eyes of sleep.

"Sorry Mrs. Rose, I forgot that you try and get Ruby to bed at this time. The commotion was my fault."

Honestly it felt like Y/n is more our son than he is Leo's, Summer just gave him a look that said 'what am I going to do with you.' Before patting  Y/n on the shoulder. Not a second later Ruby sprung awake again and started giggling hysterically at the sight of Y/n.

"Yay, big brother Y/n is here, did you bring cookies?"

I chuckled at my daughters shenanigans with Y/n and Yang pulled him into another vice grip of a hug nearly squeezing the life out of him while I went to make dinner.

"Gwaah ... Y-Yang ... a-air ... need ... a-air..."

I looked back at the trio as they mucked around before giving Summer a sorrowful expression and clearly we were both thinking the same thing.

"I worry for him Tai, we both know Leo will stop at nothing to get what he wants."

I looked back at the three as Y/n was giving Ruby a piggy back and Yang was trying to hug them both all while laughing.
