Chapter 9

One day.

Agot: (nagmamadali pumasok sa auditorium ng school but last part na ng presentation ni Alexa ang napanood niya. Nakita Alexa pagkababa niya ng stage kaya nilapitan niya ito)

Shiela: (from the audience lumapit din kay Alexa)

Agot: congratulations sweetheart.

Alexa: I saw you mom, kakarating mo lang.

Agot: yes but naabutan ko pa ang highlight ng presentation mo.

Alexa: you promised to be here from start to finish but you were late.

Agot: na traffic kasi ako—

Alexa: you should have leave the office early. Lagi ka na nga absent from my school affairs tapos aattend ka nga late naman.

Agot: I'm really sorry babawi nalang si mommy.

Shiela: (lapit kay Alexa) congratulations my apo.

Alexa: (smile brightly at Shiela) hi lola! Did you see my performance?

Shiela: of course! And I am so proud of you.

Agot: why don't I treat you both. You like that sweetheart?

Alexa: Thank you mom but I'm going to sleepover at lola's.

Agot: this is our chance to do things together since it's weekend tomorrow.

Alexa: but I promised lola that I will sleep with her and lolo tonight. Hindi na ako magagalit sayo sa pagdating mo ng late basta payagan mo na ako magsleep over kay lola.

Agot: (silent only)

Shiela: sa bahay lang naman pupunta yang anak mo bakit mo ipagdadamot?

Agot: hindi naman sa pinagdadamot ko si Alexa mom eh—

Alexa: (face Agot) mommy hanggang dito ba naman mag aaway pa kayo?

Agot: bukas ka na magsleepover.

Shiela: ano ba ang magagawa ng isang gabing difference. As if naman may lakad kayo tonight.

Alexa: magmumukmok lang naman tayo sa bahay eh.

Agot: (sigh) yan ba talaga gusto mo?

Alexa: oo naman.

Agot: okay wala naman ako magagawa pag kayo na nagkampihan eh. I'll go ahead then. (Kiss Shiela sa cheeks then face Alexa) take care.

Alexa: (kiss Agot sa cheeks) bye mom.

Agot: (just nod then umalis na din agad)

Sad si Agot na mas gusto ni Alexa makasama ang lola niya. Pinagbigyan na niya since mas lalo ito magagalit sa kanya pag hindi pinagbigyan and ayaw na niya gumawa ng eksena sa school but masakit ang dibdib niya sa ginawa ni Alexa. Nag undertime na sana siya to spend time with her daughter. Since wala din naman si Alexa sa bahay nagpasya na siya bumalik nalang sa office kahit uwian na na time ang pagdating niya.

Albert: (nagliligpit na ng gamit)

Agot: (pasok ng office nakita si Albert na nagliligpit na but diritso lang siya sa office niya)

Albert: (nagtaka bakit bumalik si Agot dahil ang akala niya mag undertime ito. Instead na umuwi na nagtrabho na ulit siya. Nagvideo conference siya sa States sa mga executives niya sa isang company niya)

Agot: (lingon sa office ni Albert dahil hindi pa ito lumalabas na nagliligpit na ito nung dumating siya but then nakita niya may kausap ito kaya try nalang niya magwork but hindi siya makapgconcentrate. After a while tumayo din siya and pumunta ng pantry to get coffee)
