Hurts Like Heaven

I will not be taking one specific quote from this song.  I believe that it communicates resilience.  Love is there too, but mainly resilience.

First, "See the arrow they shot trying to tear us apart/ Take the fire from my belly and the beat from my heart/ Still I won't let go/ Still I won't let go/ Of you".  For me this shows the hardships that we all go through in staying true to ourselves and in keeping things that are important to us, such as values, when others are wholly against them.  Of course, the strength of love is also mentioned.  When the odds are against a relationship and society, family, and friends are against it or even appalled, do you keep it or let it go?  I believe there is only one factor that should determine an answer to this.  The presence of love, 'true love'.  If the relationship is founded on something superficial, then it is not worth pursuing.  That's just my opinion.

Second, here is a quote that I absolutely love.  "Yes I feel a little bit nervous/ Yes I feel nervous and I cannot relax/ How come they're out to get us/ How come they're out when they don't know the facts".  I am filled with ecstasy when I sing these lyrics because I can connect so strongly to them.  I have had several instances of anxiety because I was holding to a belief.  So many times, I have faced judgement from those who did not even know.  But, that's life.  We are all faced with bigotry, restrictions of society, etc.  Still, we can make the decision to keep our values, keep our beliefs, and keep moving forward.  Ultimately, in the grand scheme of things, what others say and think about you/your life does not matter.  Oh, and spray-paint art is totally radical.  It's not as easy as it looks :D

Resilience. Personal Prerogative v. Society. Love? Any thoughts relating to this quote? Any stories? Can you relate? In about three days, I will start a new discussion board. Thanks for reading.
