"Charlie!" A women's voice rings in my head echoing through the walls of the small apartment. I quickly wake up. Looking over at the clock on my bedside table. It's a quarter to three in the morning. "Charlie!" She sounds angry oh so angry. She's home and it's been Almost a week. Lonely began to feel like a person, the only friend I had. But it didn't leave often but in this exact moment it did. The bedroom door busts open.

She looked so pale as if she hasn't slept in days. Every time I see her she looks thinner. I worry. But I can't let her know that. Sheer panic on her face. "Oh good, you're here." I smile. It's all I can do. People with addictions. They're so unpredictable. She walks back out. I lay back into my bed. Wide awake, happy birthday Charlie.

6 Months Later

Walking into high school is a literal shit show. You've got the stoners, the girls that are pretty enough to get any guy but also be called a thot most of the time. You've got the golden kids who have a whole ride to college, the kids who have all the money in the world from daddy. The theater kids etc. but the one that stands out the most is Landon Jackson. The sport junkie, the boy girls swoon over. The brightest in all his classes. My Bestfriend. I open my locker to grab a few books for my classes of this morning. Seeing a body to my left lean against the lockers. "Sweet Charlie." I cant help but feel fuzzy inside only letting him call me that. "Landon." I smile meeting his gaze. "So your gonna be at that game tomorrow night right?" He asks. I shake my head closing my locker. Fully turning to him. "Yes I'll be there.." he cuts me off. "Yes I'll take you home afterwards." I laugh. "Okay." We head to bio-med together.

It's about half past the bell and we're working on our assigned projects. "Did you eat this morning?" He asks as I'm writing down some key components of our project. "Mhm." I lied. Haven't had money for food too busy paying the bills for my mothers apartment that should just be my apartment. It goes silent. I look at him. "I'll buy us lunch." Sighing. "Landon I know you're worried about me but it's okay." I give him a little smile. He just smiles and nods. "Still buying you lunch though."

Walking to lunch I see Landon. He waves me over. I quickly rush by multiple people cutting them off in line. Quickly apologizing their way. "Oh look at you ya little rebel." He says joking my way. I roll my eyes. "I'm being held against my will for this." He chuckles. His teeth smiling a perfect white. I can't help but smile. I grab a nicely chopped salad at the bar. "Really?" He asks. I shrug. "I actually love salads." He bobs his head. Hair flopping in the front. I can't help but notice he's wearing a scrunch on his wrist. He swipes his card and that's when I get a better look. It's a pretty crimson red. Like our school colors. Landon talking to a girl? Wonder what that's all about. This generation I tell you. We take a table outside munching away on our lunch.

Some of his football Friends join us cueing me popping in a earbud to drown half of their conversation out while I read another romance mystery. I get a few pages in when I get a tap on my shoulder. I look up from my book. I see Thea. (Thee-Ah) She was all dressed up nicely as if she was going to a meeting. Her and I talked here and there but she mostly kept to herself. She was a very smart person though too smart for her own good.

"Hey Thea." She smiles sweetly. "Sorry to disturb your wise choice of reading, I was curious if you had caught up on the calculus homework I'm"- she cuts herself off. "Ya know.." I nod. "Yeah, here." I pull some papers out. Handing them to her. "Thank you it means a lot, I'll do the next few assignments.." I cut her off. "Don't worry about it." She looks at me worried. Assuring her "don't worry, I understand." She nods and thanks me one last time before walking off.
