Ever since she had found out there were trolls right beneath the castle she had wanted to go and greet them. Princess Sofia had a warm heart and an innocent spirit, which made her incredibly noble but to the eyes of the King and the Queen it made her dangerous. She never really thought before acting, and it was becoming an habit from her to never listen to anyone. She lacked of understanding that rules were there for a reason, and mainly they were there to protect all of them. The King's grandfather had long ago declared trolls dangerous and confined them to stay down in the caves, but the story hadn't convinced Sofia. Even when she had been startled at first to find a little green creature staring at her with big dark eyes, she knew it her heart they couldn't be so bad as people said. She had to give them a chance to tell their side of the story, at least in return for the kind gesture the little creature had had with her by returning her lost kite and fixing it too.

That's why she stood right outside the cave where she had met the troll before, but didn't see anyone this time. Feeling a little braver, she slowly walked into the trolls known home and eyed carefully all the nooks for bright eyes looking at her, but again she found none. Eventually the kind troll that had fixed her kite came to greet her, and she found indeed they were fond creatures despite their different look. After learning their side of the story, Princess Sofia was even more determined to fix the misunderstanding between humans in the castle and trolls.

With some help of her brother James, she arranged to present the trolls to the King and Queen that night after dinner, but the plan quickly went south despite Sofia's good intentions. To the first sight of the little green creatures, the King felt threatened and ordered the guards to arrest them to protect the royal family. Despite the attempts of Sofia to make them listen, the guards followed the King's orders and tried to catch them, but luckily the little trolls were too fast and skillful for the human eye. With one last disappointed look to their new friend, the trolls were out through the windows and disappeared into the dark.

"How did they get into the castle?" the King demanded to know to his servants. His family had been put in danger and he was eager to find someone responsible. A sheepish hand rose in the air and he turned his look towards his youngest.

"I brought them" Sofia spoke quietly under the strong stare of her father.

"We'll talk about this later. Miranda take the children to their rooms until we make sure the castle is safe" the King ordered to his wife who was quickly to comply. Sofia stayed back for a few seconds, looking into her father's eyes with pure innocence, but that wasn't enough for him to ease his temper on her. He didn't doubt his daughter's good intentions, but he did doubted of her caution.

Once he was alone, the King took a deep breath to put his thoughts in order. While the look in his daughter's eyes screamed for him to listen to her about the trolls, fear of something happening to her or anyone else in the royal family was more powerful. With a heavy heart he ordered the guards of the palace to stand in the entrance of the cave tomorrow first thing in the morning, to keep them for getting anywhere near the castle again. The news didn't impress Sofia, and wanting nothing more than to see his green friends one last time she decided to sneak down there in the middle of the night. The little princess skilfully climbed down her window and made a run for it to the beach where the trolls caves were, completely unaware a parenting look followed her from the tower of the castle. The King was startled to see his youngest running away in the dark, and he quickly put two and two together to realize where she was going. Taken over by fear, he didn't even attempt to call the attention of the guards. He simply jumped into action and ran after the little Princess before anyone can hurt her.
