Life After Death

Chapter 3

Winter became Spring.

Spring became Summer.

Summer became Fall.

The days went by quickly, around springtime Yugi had discovered he had pyrokinesis when he accidentally set a tree on fire. Since that day, he had worked hard to keep his powers a secret from all of his friends, he didn't want them saying he wasn't allowed to practice using it. He finally felt at ease with who he was and would smile brightly as he created objects from the flames. Seto had managed to get some research on vampires to help them understand and Yugi managed to drink five pints of blood a day, sometimes six if Tristan pitched in.

Fall became Winter.

Yugi was in his room, practicing his pyrokinesis. The young man had just created a fireball when he heard a thud and looked to see his friends watching in shock. Duke had dropped a bag of stakes on the ground in his shock, which was the thud Yugi had heard. He quickly put the flame out and immediately felt afraid, especially with the looks Tea was giving him.

Joey was the first to come out of it, he simply shrugged and walked away. "Just be careful not to burn the house down." He called back to his friend as he headed downstairs.

"Cool powers, don't get hurt." Duke smiled as he followed Joey, then it was Tristan who walked away with a shrug, which helped Yugi to relax.

"I better not catch you using those powers again." Tea told Yugi, "You'd turn on us."

"I would never-" Yugi started, but was immediately interrupted afterward.

"I don't want to hear it, you're nothing but a monster, an animal." she told him, "You aren't our friend, you're a bloodsucker." Yugi watched her leave, tears were filling his eyes, but he blinked them away and sighed sadly.

"I'm not an animal." he told himself, then he stood and left his room, reforming the fireball and playing with it. He was careful not to burn anyone or anything with it though.

"Hey Yuge, we're leaving tomorrow to help Ishizu, Marik, and Odion deal with their own vampire problem." Duke informed him, "Tea will be staying with you."

"Okay." Yugi replied as he made the fire disappear, "How long will you be gone?"

"About a month." Tristan cut in, "Maybe two, Tea will feed you."

Yugi nodded softly, "Alright, say hi for me and stay safe."

"We will." Joey said, the three then hugged Yugi and he hugged back carefully. "Keep practicing your powers, I want to see them when we get back."

Yugi smiled brightly as he pulled away and looked at the three, "Definitely! I'll be making sculptures before you know it!"

"I'll hold you to it." Joey smiled brightly as he ruffled Yugi's hair, then he went to pack with Duke and Tristan. 

Yugi then turned to Tea and frowned, "Tea, we've been best friends since childhood. Can't we make an agreement?"

"How about a contract?" she suggested, then went to grab a pad and a pen, returning a few minutes later and giving it to Yugi.

Reading it, Yugi frowned, 'I, Yugi Muto, hereby give Tea authority over my life from the time Joey, Tristan, and Duke leave until they return. This includes, but is not limited to; rules, punishments for breaking them, and when I can leave the house." he then saw there was a place to put his name and he shrugged, thinking nothing of it. He then signed the contract and gave it back to her. "How hard can it be?"

"This is the only way I'll ever trust you, again." she told him and he nodded softly, then he watched her walk away.

"I think I made a deal with the devil." he frowned, then went to help the guys with their packing. The second he saw the suitcases were a mess was the second he rushed to fix them up, going at lightspeed.  The guys watched in amazement and relief as their packing was done for them. "There you go." Yugi smiled softly, "Want to see something cool?"

"Sure." Duke replied with a soft smile and they watched Yugi transform his long shirt and jeans into a shirt with flames and ripped jeans. He then bowed as applauds were given and smiled brightly as his friends cheered. "That was incredible Yugi!"

"I can do a lot more." he replied, "So...you sure you're okay with me practicing?" Yugi asked in a shy voice, he looked away and nervously rubbed his arm.

Joey gently touched his shoulder, "Yugi Muto, you're a vampire and our best friend." Joey  stated, "This is who you are now and we accept it." he smiled softly, "Tell me though, why did you first start practicing your powers?"

"I accidentally set a tree on fire and I didn't want to hurt any of you." Yugi replied truthfully, "Besides, I figured you four would need a diplomatic vampire on your side if you're gonna be superheroes."

Tristan laughed, "That we do little buddy, that we do." He smiled brightly, "Well, we can take you around to help out on smaller missions for now, then the bigger ones."

Yugi nodded in agreement, "I would love that." He smiled, "I am now going to go redecorate my room, it needs more flame and less ash." he then headed to his room, telling his friends goodnight on the way.

The night was spent with talk about what Tea needs to do to take care of Yugi and the mentioned teen decorating his room. It was midnight when he finally went to bed, his friends entered the room around one in the morning to say their goodbyes before leaving. Around three he was starting to wake up when he felt metal being pressed against his chest and back, then his hands were in handcuffs that covered his hands and prevented him from using his pyrokinesis, they reminded him of Elsa's handcuffs. The handcuffs he wore were chained in a way that it was like he wore a straightjacket and he struggled to get free. He was forced to stand on a dolly while they used chains to keep him there and took him away. He noticed that Tea was nowhere in sight which scared him, he continued to struggle as he was put in a van.
