Zozo

The following script is a project that me and a classmate wrote a few years ago, when i was taking a creative writing class. This was the first script i had ever worked on so its a bit rough, but it was a lot of fun to preform. For privacy's sake, I have censored the classmates name.

ZoZo

[Sisters Megan and Zoey have just driven up and are walking in the front of an old abandoned 2-story Mansion parallel to the main highway running through their city. The legends say that this house is haunted and Megan is playing a prank on her sister who is a heavy believer in ghosts.]

ZOEY: Where are we, Megan? I thought we were going home.

MEGAN: You know that old abandoned house that was rumored to be haunted off the highway?

ZOEY: Oh no, Megan. I've never heard anything good coming from this house. I wanna go home.

MEGAN: Just shut up and follow me.

[Megan grabs Zoey's hand and drags her towards the front of the room.]

ZOEY: Megan, answer me! What are we doing here?

MEGAN: Surprise! I got you a present!

[Drops Ouija Board on the ground.]

ZOEY: You've got to be kidding me!

MEGAN: What?

ZOEY: Nothing good ever comes out of using Ouija Boards! Haven't you seen the movies?!

MEGAN: Dude, there are no such thing as ghosts. It's just a bunch of mumbo-jumbo crap made up to scare you.

ZOEY: I have a bad feeling about this, Megan. We shouldn't be here.

MEGAN: Either you sit down and do this with me or I tell Mom and Dad you weren't really at study group tonight.

[Megan sits down. Sets up ouija board.]

ZOEY: But that would be a lie!

MEGAN: So? I'm Mom and Dad's favorite anyway. Who do you think they'd believe?

ZOEY: Fine, but you're gonna regret this.

[Zoey reluctantly sits down.]

MEGAN: Hold on. I gotta set up the candles first. We gotta be able to see.

[Megan pulls candles out of bag and begins to set them in a semi-circle around the board.]

ZOEY: Why can't we just use the flashlights on our phones?

MEGAN: No, Zoey. That's not how ghosts work. They like candles. Just put your fingers on the planchette.

[Puts fingers on the planchette.]

ZOEY: [Hesitantly places fingers on planchette]

MEGAN: You gotta move it in a circle 3 times first and then ask a simple yes or no question.

[They both move the planchette in a circle three times.]

ZOEY: I can't believe you're making me do this.

MEGAN: Is there anyone here that wants to talk to us?

[Planchette moves to yes on the board.]

ZOEY: Oh my god. Please no.

MEGAN: Okay then. What's your name?

[Planchette goes to Z and then travels to O. This happens back and forth, increasing in speed.]

MEGAN: Z. O. ZoZo?

[Planchette stops suddenly on the "O".]

ZOEY: Yes.

MEGAN: What? Zoey are you okay?

ZOEY: Zoey isn't here right now. I'll be sure to let you know when she is back.

MEGAN: This isn't funny, Zoey. Stop messing around.

ZOEY/ZOZO: ZoZo does not mess around.

MEGAN: I mean it, Zoey! Stop!

ZOEY/ZOZO: Zoey isn't here right now.

MEGAN: Where is she then?!

ZOEY/ZOZO: Gone.

[Shrugs shoulders.]

MEGAN: How do I get her back?

ZOEY/ZOZO: How about we make a deal?

MEGAN: Why on earth would I make a deal with a demon?

ZOEY/ZOZO: Do you want to see your sister again?

MEGAN: I don't need to make a deal with you! I just move the planchette to goodbye, adios, see ya later. You give me back my sister and we get the heck outta here.

ZOEY/ZOZO: We'll see about that.

[Planchette flies off the board, all of the candles are blown out, and Zoey/ZoZo starts walking away]

MEGAN: Where are you taking my sister?

ZOEY/ZOZO: Away.

MEGAN: Give me back my sister! [Shouts and runs up to Zoey and hugs her.]

ZOEY/ZOZO: [Collapses to the ground]

MEGAN: [Shakes Zoey, who is lying on the ground.] Zoey, wake up! I love you!

ZOEY: [Wakes up] What happened?

MEGAN: We have a lot to talk about. Leave the board and candles. Let's go home. Mom said she was making Shawarma tonight.

[Both walk away, leaving the Ouija board and candles behind.]
