What is love,
I wonder,
But then I realise
That the answer has
Always been right
In front of me.
Love is the second chance
That is given a thousand times
For the very, same mistake -
A mistake that should have
Never been repeated.
Love is the chance
That is abused
But still forgiven.
Love is disappointment
But just a simpler more
Common way of saying it.
And love is the one thing
That triumphs over
All logical reason 1
I find that love is also
The very reason I still
Wake you up and help you
To bed so that you
Do not hurt your back.
Love is what gives me
Patience to deal with your shit
Every day
And when someone
Asks about you,
I smile and tell them the truth -
That I still loved you,
Despite everything,
And that nothing
Can ever change
My mind about that.
