Bundled up in blankets and surrounded by a bed of pillows, you watched the flames in the fireplace cackle and clap, dancing in celebration of Halloween night. It was you and Johnny's absolute favourite holiday and you had bowls of chocolate eyeballs and gummy worms ready to hand out to the neighbourhood kids coming for trick or treating. It was quite nice that your folks were out at a Halloween party and you had the house to yourselves.

"Here." You murmur, feeding Johnny a salted caramel piece of popcorn. He grinned a bit and ate it, nursing a mug of warm ginger tea to heat up his hands, holding it away from you so not to spill it. He needed the warm drink, the growing rasp in his voice gave away the fact that he was coming down with a cold. "I always get sick around Halloween time." he murmurs, taking a sip of the tea. His nose was going pink.

"Well, you know what they say..." you start to tease "Thats the first sign of demonic posession."

He rolled his eyes playfully, shaking his head and taking another sip. "You need God." The idea that demons and ghosts might be real kind of freaked him out, still; he liked horror movies. "That stuff ain't real anyway." He shrugs.

"It sure is!" You argued back. He gave you a little smirk, shook his head and laughed to himself, thinking on it.

"Maybe... I guess it'd be kind of cool, not demons and stuff but like... good ghosts, you know, to know theres something after all this."

Nodding in agreement, you rested your head on his lap and brought the blankets up around the both of you, feeling safe and cozy while you flicked through the TV channels. Johnny stroked your hair, chuckling softly to himself when one of your cats came and nuzzled up to his side. "Back off, he's mine." You muttered jokingly at the feline who seemed to sense the humourous competition and meowed back, making both you and Johnny laugh.

He had such a sweet laugh.

"C'mere." He mumbled, hoisting up your fat cat, and having it sit on your back, just for kicks. Much too lazy to complain, the cat just sat there and Johnny thought it was real funny. You could feel his long fingers comb through your hair and give you a little massage from time to time, each time you'd close your eyes and lean your head back in comfort. "Mhm..."

The two of you settled on some film on TV about the Salem witch trials, a little nugget of history that Johnny knew a surprisingly fair amount about. "Dally told us about it a long time ago at Pony's house when we were telling stories by the fire, just trying to spook eachother out, it sure spooked me, I think I was about maybe eight at the time." He explains.

"Witchcraft freaks you out?" You murmur, eyes on the movie.

"Hell yeah." he nods

"I thought it wasn't real" You tease, mocking what he had said earlier.

"Oh I don't know." He mutters, getting uneasy and scratching the back of his neck. "The witching hour is real."

"Witching hour?" You ask, turning your head back to look at him.

"Mhm." He nods, lips pursed. "You know, 3am, bad spirits'll come out to mock the holy trinity."

You laughed and shook your head, making him go pink. "Sounds like they really freak you out in Church huh?" You tease.

"Its not funny." he mumbles, laughing it off a little, his cheeks were pink and you couldn't help but want to pinch them. You knew Johnny to be all down for Halloween, he loved pretty much everything about it. The pumpkin patches, exploring abandoned places, decorating for the season, campfire stories and wandering around in the forest. Apparently he didn't like the idea of ghosts though, and he'd never come along to scare mazes. Little Johnny didn't appreciate things popping out at him and you were glad that he'd set the mug of hot tea aside when the jumpscares made the two of you jolt at the same time.

"Scared, Johnny Cade?" You just couldn't help but tease, making him roll his eyes.

"No I just wasn't expecting that to just jump out the way it did." He nods towards the screen. "I don't know how these actors keep a straight face when they're pretending to get possesed...I think I'd end up laughing." He says.

While you watched the movie, he traced shapes on your back and alternated between doing that and rubbing your head. Sometimes he when he got comfortable and a bit brave, he'd slip his hand under your sweater and let his fingertips dance gently over your back. He even got as brave as to chance it and slide a finger underneath your bra strap, pulling it up and letting it slap back against your skin. You hissed and went pink, arching your back

"Johnny..." You blush.

He grinned a bit, going back to rubbing your back over your sweater. "Mhm?"

"You're a little tease, you know that?" You murmur, he just grinned and slowly began to lift up your sweater and you could feel his cold hands brush over your back. You let him, lifting your arms up so to slide the sweater off. His cheeks were glowing warm just looking at you, you turned around to face him and sat on his lap. Slowly, his hands found their way to your hips, gently holding them while he leant in for small, shy pecks on your lips.

"C'mon." You murmur encouragingly, holding his face and getting him comfortable enough to kiss you for real, slowly, softly. He had soft, plump lips and often times when he started to kiss you he really couldn't stop. He shivered when you slipped your cold fingers under his shirt and pulled it over his head. "You want to do this?" You murmur.

He nodded, and pulled the blankets up over you.

Slow, gentle.

The two of you couldn't care less about the movie anymore. By the time you were both spent, he turned the TV off while you collected up your clothes. His cheeks were pink while he watched you in awe, just foolishly holding his own shirt in a ball in his hands. "Will you get this for me?" You ask, turning your back to him so that he could clasp up your bra.

"Sure, doll." He fumbled with it some at first, then managed to get it to clasp, kissing your shoulder gently and holding you a little before he let you go. "Imma go out for a smoke, babe." he lets you know, just before tugging his jeans back on and letting himself out back.

"Don't let the screen door slam!"

While he sat on the back porch step for a smoke, you rolled up the blankets and carried all the pillows upstairs, save for one blanket so it'd look like Johnny was sleeping there when your parents got back. Then, you hopped into the shower, letting the hot steamy water comfort you against the autumn cold. After that, you slipped into your favourite faux satin nightdress. Johnny liked it too, it was peachy coloured. It was nice to curl up in bed, all snug and warm while you waited for Johnny to come up. He went and showered too, and when he unlocked the bathroom door you were there, thinking it'd be funny to wait and scare him.

"Boo!" You jumped out at him and he yelled, laughing and scooping you up from behind when he realized it was only you. He spun you around with arms tight around your hips, your legs flying in the air.

"You're crazy." He chuckled softly, spinning you all the way to your room and throwing you onto bed.

"Did you get scared for real?" You laugh, crawling under the covers while he got dressed to sleep.

"Yeah." He laughed softly "Wasn't expecting you to pop out at me like that, almost made me drop my towel."

You giggled, cuddling up to him when he came and laid down and the cat joined you too. "You better scram back down to the couch when my parents get home." You tease while he stretched out, getting comfortable.

"Will you wake me up?" He murmurs and you nodded. "I'll wake you up at 3am so the demons can get you." You tease and he shoved you gently. "Shuddup."

You giggled and messed up his hair. "G'night Bambi eyes."

He smiled.

"Night, doll...and happy Halloween."
