Lou grabbed the croutons out of the oven just in time. Less than a minute later, Tyler and his "dad" made their way through the front door. Lou quickly met them in the front entrance hall and I could hear hushed whispers from all of them. I was able to make out very few words.

"No memory....telling the truth I think....I will keep an eye on her...."

I grabbed glasses for water and poured some at the table like a dutiful housewife.

"Lunch is ready!" I called happily.

Everyone made their way to the table and I sat next to Tyler, placing a quick kiss on his cheek.

"I hope everyone likes it. I didn't want to do anything too heavy."

Jay grinned and showed his yellow and brown teeth, give the several missing from his mouth. "This looks great. Glad to see you learned your lesson."

Rage built rapidly inside of me, but I kept my cool on the outside. I forced my cheeks to flush and looked down. "Yes. I did. I don't know why I was so awful before. I don't remember anything, but that's okay. I know I have my family to help me remember and to love me, even when I disobey."

Tyler squeezed my hand. "I'm proud of you, Blair. You are really settling in with us well."

I took my seat at the table. "Thank you, that means so much to me. May I bless the food?"

Jay nodded, still showing his big ugly grin.

"Thank you, God, for blessing me with such a loving family. Thank you for protecting us and providing us with food so that we may never go hungry. Amen."

This satisfied everyone, and they quickly dug in to their meals.  I ate my food and took quick glances at the clock every now and then.

Before I knew it lunch was over and Tyler and his "parents" were on their way out of the door. I kissed Tyler's lips gently, gagging on the inside as I did so.

"Hurry home. I can't wait to see you." He waved goodbye and the door locked behind him as he left.

I waited at least fifteen minutes, and then went back to scouring the house for more information. I could not let myself down. I had much to do.
