Shadow's POV

I say on my bed. I had finished my short shower. It's 10:48 in the evening now. I got into my phone and check if there's any messages I had received. Someone knocked on my door

"Come in"I said in my usual monotone voice

Mephiles' figure was shown. Showing an emotionless gaze,locking into my crimson ones. I acknowledge his presence by humming and gesturing for him to sat beside me. I know he is going to say something on me, he's like that,as usual

"Mr.Smith asked me...if you're available on their Science Quiz Bee"He asked

"Hmm?Why did he asked me suddenly about that? He's running the Science club,why not ask his other members?"I asked,but my eyes are still glued to my phone

"Well, actually, he told me the quiz bee will be by group. Containing 3 students. He already asked the club members if they want to join, unfortunately,due to tons of school works,they refused"Mephiles explained

"But did he ask Tails?"

"Well,yeah. And said no to it"Mephiles frowned

"How about Sonic?"

Seconds of silence,I could tell Mephiles' eyes is widening

"Actually,let me ask Mr.Smith about tha-"

"Wait,wait"I cut him off

"I'm sure he asked you too,right?"I rose a brow,now taking my gaze off my phone

"Yeah. I agreed,but we need other 2 members. You two are the ones who come into my mind"Mephiles said

"Ask Sonic first if he can join"I said

"Well why don't you? You're the one who have a phone,and his contact right now"Mephiles said

I sighed and nodded,searching for his name on my contacts. When I found him,I wasted no time to text him,and of course, explained him everything. To my surprise,he replied quickly

Really?!Sure I will.
But,will you be joining?

Sonic's POV

I stretched my arms and yawned before rubbing my eyes. I stood up and checked myself on the mirror. I fixed my messy quills before I go downstairs to check if mom had gone to work now

"Mom?"

No answer

I sighed. Assuming my first thought lately

"Dad?"

Silence

Well,seems like I'm the only one here. I walked into the kitchen and noticed a note on the refrigerator. I read it aloud

Dear Sonic,
      Good morning son!
      Me and my father got to work earlier than expected. Our boss called us,just about something urgent on work.
      I prepared pancakes for your breakfast!!With maple syrup on it!
