— it all started with a cough.

nothing over the top, just two coughs but still jeongguk touched the boy's forehead and frowned when it was a little warm.

the caregiver had just finished fastening the buttons on taehyung's koala onesie, while the little was playing with a set of plastic keys when he sneezed.

again, no big deal just a warm forehead, a sneeze, and a couple of coughs is all that's happened.

and maybe jeongguk was being a bit dramatic as he played out the scene in his head of him dropping down to his knees to pray that taehyung wasn't getting sick.

but you couldn't blame him, a sick taehyung isn't a happy taehyung.

— taehyung doesn't know what part of him felt worse.

at the moment it was a tie between his aching muscles and the incessant pounding that was going on behind his skull.

it didn't help that his nose was exceeding its capacity and his throat felt raw as he attempted to swallow for the first time since waking up.

he could feel a whimper threatening to come out of his mouth when a series of coughs rattled out of his chest.

jeongguk almost fell off the bed waking up so fast.

but he was quick to help taehyung sit up and rubbed the boys back as he continued to cough.

taehyung slumped forward the moment the coughs stopped, arms winding around jeongguk's waist as he moaned,

" d-don't feel good daddy," he said sniffling as he positioned himself closer,

"I know love, let me see you for a second hm?"

taehyung whined as he lifted his head, a pout stuck to his lips with matching flushed cheeks and bangs that stuck matted to his forehead,

jeongguk moved the bangs out of taehyung eyes and cupped his cheek noting the heat that radiated off the boy's body,

"let me get the thermometer baby can you wait here for me?" jeongguk said,

"can wait," taehyung sighed inching towards the bed frame to keep him upright,

"it'll take just a second," the younger said slipping out of the bed and walking as fast as he could to their bathroom removing the thermometer from the drawer,
