Chapter 44

"Hi Im Emily. You must be my roommate." A preppy girl said walking in
"Charlotte." I said standing up to shake her hand
"First day?" She asked shaking it as I nodded yes
"It gets better. Im half way through my treatment. This is my third time going through rehab. First time here and honestly I feel like this place offers so much more then other places. I really dont feel any need to relapse anymore." She smiled sitting across from me
"This is my first time in rehab." I said looking at the shock in her face
"Wow and you made it here right away. Daddy must got deep pockets." She said smugly
"My dads dead. My boyfriend dropped me off here against my will this morning." I said as the smug smile fell from her face
"Oh shit Im sorry. I just assumed." She said
"Its fine. Wouldnt have been the first time its been assumed." I laughed at her reaction
"Drug of choice?" She asked
"I thought we werent suppose to ask that." I said confused
"I am your mentor. Im allowed to. Soon when you get to you half way point I will be gone and you become a mentor to the next girl that walks through the door." She said with soft eyes
"Now what is your drug of choice?" She asked again
"Cocaine and Oxy." I huffed
"Ohhh wow intense." She said before continuing on "I was as well but I was one hit away of heroin before overdosing." She said honestly
"Ive had one bad one that ended me in the hospital." I said as she nodded
"No more. We are here to get clean. We can do it. Have faith." She said as she stood up and sat next to me
"Whos the one who got you a connection to get in?" She asked as we leaned back and rested against the wall
"My boyfriend." I laughed
"Who is he?" She asked pushing me
"Tyler Holt." I shrugged
"The new center for the Capitals?" She asked excited
"Yes him." I laughed
"Oh my god he is sexy as hell girl. How is he in bed?" She asked making me laugh
"Who is yours?" I asked
"My dad is the governor of Illinois. I guess its bad running for senator with a daughter who is addicted to drugs." She shrugged and laughed
"Why are you now coming here?" I asked
"I tried LA but they were too relaxed. I relapsed a month later. I was in New York and they didnt care about the future. I used right after I left." She laughed
We shared our horror stories with drugs until dinner.
This place was nicer then I thought. The meals were actually edible and were high dollar meals. We were given menus and the tables were served. Groups of people sat together, there were groups of twos, and some sitting by themselves reading.
"You seem like you like it here." I said as we sat down
"Ya I do. Its different than other places you will see." She smirked as a familiar smell hit my senses
"Abby this is Charlotte." Emily said introducing us
"Char?" She said sitting down across from me
"Abs." I said looking down at the menu
"You two know each other?" Emily asked surprised
"We were room mates." We both said at the same time
"Shes the one that slept with your ex that beat you?" Emily asked as I nodded
"Wait beat?" Abby asked and I nodded again
"Yes. Chase beat me and I lost mine and Tylers baby." I said rereading the menu for a third time
"Oh shit. Im sorry. I told him that you wouldnt use again not thinking he would attack." She said pulling the menu out of my hands
"Ya right." I scuffed
"No Charlie I am serious. I didnt want anything like that to happen to you. I thought he would just scare you into not reporting to your sister about anything regarding the club." She said wanting me to believe her
"He made me relapse. Shot me up and I lost my baby." I said as tears fell from both of our faces
"Im sorry Char." She said and I finally believed her
"Its part of recovery to give forgiveness right?" I asked
"Well not really. Thats like a made up myth." Emily laughed bringing a smile to our faces as she stood up
"Im going to leave you two alone to talk." She said leaving is alone
"Im sorry I was a shitty friend." She said breaking the silence
"Who sent you in here?" I asked ignoring it
"Nanny actually." She said shrugging
"Did JJ put you in here?" She asked
"No. I went on a bender last night and I woke up in Tylers car on the way here." I said taking my menu back
"Charlie I really mean it I didnt think he would do that. I still care about you. I was just upset about you being clean and having a happy life." She said
"It was hard to get up to that point. My mom and brother dont talk to me anymore. JJ kicked me out last night not wanting anything to do with me and Tyler has been there the whole time." I said as she listened intently
"Can we start over with this whole friendship?" She asked
"Only if you answer this honestly. Did you sleep with Chase while we were together?" I asked
"No. We started after you left and right when he got released. It was only three times before he got arrested again for an assault that I guess was against you." She said with out any lying coming through
"Ok. Im Charlotte Holt." I said reaching my hand out
"Abby Hudson. Nice to meet you." She said as we shook hands
"So did you really get married?" She asked
"No. Tyler put it in under his name." I laughed before we ordered dinner and caught up on life
