Brandy Mills was given a bad hand, it wasn't her fault.
Brandy was truly set up to fail. She grew up in the worst side of Wisconsin, West Allis, in a trailer park surrounded by drugs and prostitution. Her father was constantly in an out of jail for anything and everything. Pimping, drugs, assault, robbery, and probably other things his kid didn't know. Leon Mills wasn't even the biggest problem in her life as well... he wasn't in it.
Leon wanted nothing to do with his kid and Brandy was glad he stayed out of the picture. Her mother, Kate Mills, hated her daughter. Brandy wished she could say the same about her mom. The teenager couldn't find it in her to hate her own mother, in the pure hope that maybe her mom would love her in return. But deep down, she knew her mother wanted to forget her. Why else would she drown herself drinking and put needles in her arm day after night?
And life was tough, and Brandy often found herself drowning in the smell of marijuana as if it would alleviate her issues. Which it did, a few hours at a time.
Brandy knew she was the reason of her mother's unhappiness, so she did everything she could to not be a burden. She had a 4.4 gpa, kept the house clean, cooked dinners, and did laundry. Brandy would hold her mother's hair back when she vomited into a toilet, set out Advil when she woke up, and made her breakfast in bed.
Brandy did all that she could, and even then it wasn't enough. Brandy wasn't enough.

"So, Forman, when's your cousin getting here?" Hyde asked, pulling out a pop from the fridge. "I haven't seen her since I was six."
Donna, Eric, and Hyde sat in the Eric's basement, as per usual. Nothing particularly interesting happening on the Friday evening. Jackie and Kelso were on a date, and Fez had been forced to volunteer at church with his host parents. A week ago, Red had announced that Eric's cousin, Brandy would be staying with them until further notice. Kitty and Red didn't say much reason as to why, which was strange.
Red's sister, Kate, seemed to be the hermit of the family. They never heard from them, and Eric never knew where they even lived. All he knew is that Red sent a check to them every month, and that's only because Eric looked at their mail when he was snooping around.
Kitty had a strange relationship with Kate's daughter. When Kitty was freshly married, her and Red sent out Christmas cards and Brandy had replied with a handmade card. A plain white card with 'Merry Christmas Red and Kitty!' Written in red and green, barely legible because it was from a 6 year old. A big red cat on the front of it. The card melted Kitty's heart and she ended up replying to that one. Thus starting a beautiful pen pal relationship of 10 years.
Kitty knew for years now that Red's sister was the worst mother in the world, and she regretted waiting for this long to take Brandy from that environment. However, Red and herself agreed it would be best to keep the information away from Eric as it wasn't his issue to deal with. So naturally, when Eric heard that a practical stranger was staying with them, it didn't sit well with him. The Forman's were already short on money as it was, and to him, all Brandy was going to do was bring them more trouble.
