"Why the fuck did you let Percy talk me into getting a tattoo?!"

I groaned as I stared at my arm in the mirror, rubbing it with gentle lotion while I debated on what the hell I was going to wear that day to keep fabric off of it. She threw me a purple tank top and I tugged it on, a sickly look on my face while I pouted at her.

"Hey, in my opinion, I actually loved the idea," she looked over at her own shoulder, a big grin on her face, "I wasn't going to complain about getting a pain-free tattoo."

"You are such a bitch," I cackled, throwing a pillow at her as I grabbed a pair of jeans to step into, "toss me Owen's-!"

I didn't even have to finish my sentence as the beige hoodie slammed into the back of my head while Maven's cackles echoed in the room. It was light enough that it wasn't going to bug my skin and I was so very grateful for it. Maven strapped my goggles over my head for me as I walked out the door, finding my way down with the dumbwaiter and emerging in the kitchen to find it pretty lax for this time of the day. After rifling around the fridge for a couple of minutes I found and apple and ran off with it, waving to Slender as I bolted out the door.

Today was the last school day before Christmas break and I was feeling a little anxious; I still had that looming fear over my head that I was going to end up getting someone hurt but I didn't want to think about that now. I had an actual dinner date with Owen's parents after school and I felt even more ecstatic than I did when I first went out with him. Someone actually cared enough to make me a part of their lives in every aspect.

I bounced up the front steps with ease before winding through the early morning mess until I found my table with Owen and Persephone. I could tell my best friend was regretting her decision as much as I was when I saw how red her poor little fingers were.

"Does yours feel like a sunburn?" She whimpered, "I just want to peel them off so bad."

"Trust me, mine's worse," I laughed, leaning my head on Owen's shoulder, "did yours feel like this?"

"Oh, I wanted to physically rip my arm off for a week straight," he cackled, "I didn't warn you guys because I wanted you to see for yourselves."

"What a dick," Persephone groaned until the bell rang, everyone splitting off their separate ways to head to class.

The day absolutely dragged by; I slept through second and third period until I got to lunch, taking care not to eat too much so that I could eat more when I went to Owen's. He teased me about being picky and I just stuck my tongue out at him in response.

The rest of the day was fine until I was loading up my locker and I found that someone was waiting for me on the other side of the door. I hadn't really seen hide nor hair of Norman since the party so it surprised me when I saw that he looked like he wanted to talk.

"Can I help you?" I stated, a little more aggressively than I'd meant it to be.

"I've been working up the courage to come and talk to you after getting absolutely humiliated by the majority of the school for what I did," he started, green eyes glittering, "I know you're going through a lot right now and I just wanted to apologize for letting anything happen. I was way too drunk and I know that's not an excuse, but I regret what I did. Especially because it was Sabine and I know you two have a history."

"How do you know that?" I raised an eyebrow.

"She told me why you probably took it so bad, and had I realized you two had been in the situation you were in I wouldn't have invited her."

"How is she doing?" I laughed, not really caring, "get caught smoking on campus again?"

"Bat, I'm trying to be serious," he stated, knocking me off my high horse the smallest amount, "look, I know you're seeing Owen and we don't have a shot at being together again but I at least want to try to be friends."
