it is a normal day for everyone but not for yankai, he's been having second thoughts lately whether or not to betray which party

chunhua greeted her at the hallway as she removed her earphones, "how are you?"

yankai eyed her weirdly; chunhua ignored her last week, what happened now?

'is she faking it?', the one thing that went inside his head

she tilted her head, "yankai?", she waved her hand in front of the boy's face

"i'm fine, i guess? oh by the way, you look good in ponytail!" yankai awkwardly smiled as he complimented the lady in front

chunhua posed in front of him and smiled, "really? thanks!"

they both started to walk together as chunhua asked some questions, "did you know your new schedule already?"

"new schedule? we're not classmates anymore?" yankai asked, scratching his nape, "never heard of that though"

chunhua chuckled, "right, you're still new here. we always have our new schedules right after the sports fest ends. nothing major will change though since we're still in 11th grade but the last subject will be different"

"the last subject?" yankai looked at chunhua with a confused expression, "what do you mean by last subject?"

chunhua gets a notebook from her locker and flipped the pages as she reads, "ethics will be everyone's last subject starting from today. the girls and the boys will be separated! imagine, colliding all the grade 11 girls. that's so exhausting"

yankai nodded, "which room are we?"

"it will be announced later on, i hope linong will still look after you though" chunhua mumbled the remaining words as she make her way going to her seat

"did you say something?" yankai followed her as he arrange his things as well

chunhua points at herself, "me? HAHAHAHA it will be a fool out of myself if i still talked right after that"

chunhua tried to hide her lies in her awkward laughs, yankai just nodded and frowned

"maybe i'm just hearing things"

meiqi entered the room with a gloomy expression, she is followed by maotong, linong, and zhenghao

she slumped in her chair and started to cry, chunhua immediately went beside her and comforted her bestfriend

"what happened to you?" chunhua asked but it only makes her cry even more, chunhua looked up to see his other friends

linong raised both of his arms up to his shoulders, "i don't know anything, please don't blame me"

chunhua looked at zhenghao who was busy playing on his phone, "you can tell that i don't know anything too, we just followed her here"

finally, chunhua looked at maotong, expecting for an answer. they all know how maotong knows everything well maybe except for yankai

chunhua tilted her head as her eyes are glaring maotong, maotong tried to look as if he know nothing but chunhua's eyes look scary enough so he decided to give up

"fine! lucas dumped her. you know that handsome senior who is friends with sicheng, renjun, kun, and chenle himself" maotong rolled his eyes as he sucked in the lollipop he just opened

hearing those words from maotong, meiqi cried even more

yankai touched maotong's wrist as the latter felt electrified, "what the hell man?"

"are you really serious about that?" yankai asked as if nothing happened, maotong rubbed his wrist and nodded

"good for her" a familiar voice was heard; they saw chengcheng, quanzhe, and zou ye at the back of linong

"why is it 'good for her', quanzhe? don't you have any pity for her?" zuo ye asked

"does she had any pity to me last week? no." quanzhe dropped his bag at chunhua's chair, "i'll be sitting here for now"

chengcheng furrowed his eyebrows as he gulped the last food he ate, "what really happened between the two of you? you've been awkward at our clan's base"

quanzhe crossed his arms, "that serves her a lesson, it's not always right to flirt a guy you just met"

yankai touched his chest, "wow, that was heartwarming"

"why does it sound sarcastic when it comes from you?" linong asked

yankai just shrugged and points infront, "Mr. Li is here!"

the squad immediately retreated back to their own seats as quanzhe gave chunhua's bag to her

linong stood up to greet but Mr. Li stopped him, "today will be quick, we only have 30 mins. of classes. so pass all of your projects that i gave you last month"

some students started passing their projects but some of them maybe forgot they had a project because of the hectic schedule last week

yankai tapped chunhua's shoulder, she looked at the back and asked, "what do you need?"

"where is your twin brother? i haven't seen him" yankai asked, pointing at a vacant seat beside him

chunhua scratched her ear, "he's busy with some things, he'll be back tomorrow"

"busy for what? does he have anything to do besides school?"

quanzhe sighed, "will you please stop asking questions and pass your project instead?"

Mr. Li tapped his stick on the table, "regarding the merit and de-merit system, you can approach me now"

no one dared to stand up but yankai bravely went near Mr. Li, "are you going to tell me who observed you? remember you'll have de-merits if you were wrong"

yankai slowly nodded and mumbled under his breath, "it's time to try his power"

yankai looked straight at Mr. Li's eyes and stated, "my friends observed me; specifically chunhua, meiqi, quanzhe, maotong, linong, zhenghao, and zou ye"

the class gasped as Mr. Li fixed his glasses, "okay, let's see"

at the back of yankai, the squad are going hysterical. it's not just their grades will be ruined but also their plans.

yankai tried to look back without them knowing and smirked

Mr. Li finished looking through the mentioned students' projects and sighed, "Zhang Yankai is right, the students mentioned will have de-merits"

some of the students clapped in awe but chengcheng cursed under his breath, "how the fuck did he even knew?"
