Hermione paced back and forth in her room as she tried to take deep, calming breaths. The wedding dress grew tighter and tighter with every passing minute, and as the dress grew tighter she gripped her bouquet tighter.

A sudden knock at the door made her jump, but when she saw it was only Ginny, she relaxed slightly.

"Are you ready?" Ginny asked, a slight smile on her face.

Hermione returned the smile, but it was certainly a bit forced. "Just give me a few more minutes, please."

The red head sighed and cracked the door open a little more so she could slide in. "'Mione, you know you don't have to go through with this."

Hermione smiled sadly. "I know. But I can't just leave..."

"Sweetheart, I know you aren't in love with my brother," Ginny said quietly.

"I do love him," Hermione insisted.

"Yes, but you aren't in love with him," Ginny replied with a smile. "You know it, and I know it."

Hermione shook her head. "I'll be down in a few minutes."

Ginny sighed and nodded, squeezing her friend's arm before leaving the room.

Hermione began pacing again, before finally throwing the bouquet down onto the bed and sitting on the edge, putting her head in her hands.

"What am I doing?" She groaned to herself.

"Making the biggest mistake of your life?"

She jumped up and looked around, her eyes landing on the familiar blond man standing in her window.

"Draco!" She whisper-yelled, looking quickly at her bedroom door before casting a locking and silencing charm on it. "What are you doing here?!"

He jumped down from the window and slowly walked over to her, looking her right in the eye. She didn't dare look away, but the nerves in her stomach only grew worse.

"Hermione," He said quietly, stopping right in front of her. "Why are you doing this?"

Her voice wavered as she spoke. "I...he loves me..."

She faltered as his hand rested gently on her cheek, the all-too-familiar look in his eyes as he gazed at her. She knew that look, and she loved it.

But then she pulled away, her eyes going to the floor. "Draco, things have changed..."

"Hermione, come with me."

She gave him a confused look. "What?"

He nodded as he put his hands on her upper arms, his thumbs rubbing against her skin. "Run away with me, right now?"

She gaped at him, her mind completely blank. He waited quietly, giving her arms a squeeze.

"I...Draco, they're waiting for me downstairs..."

"I bought the beach cottage."

She sighed, a small smile tracing her lips. "The one with the blue door?"

He smile widely. "Yeah."

Looking down at the floor, she squeezed her eyes shut. So many memories were flooding her mind and clouding her judgement, but they were all happy ones. She squeezed her eyes tighter to hold back tears, but it didn't do any good.

"We don't have to tell anyone where we're going," He said quietly, gently wiping away the tears.

She pulled away and put her face in her hands, taking a few more deep breaths. "Draco, this is all so sudden."

"Yes, it is sudden," Draco said, taking a few steps towards her. "So were the feelings that developed between us, and so was the love."

She was quiet, her mind racing now. She knew exactly what she wanted to do, but now she just had to build up the courage to do it.

Knock knock knock. "Hermione?"

There was silence, and Ginny frowned as she opened the door. "Hermione, everyone's been-"

The room was completely empty, except for the bed. There was Hermione's bouquet, a note, and an engagement ring. Ginny smiled as she grabbed the note and read off:

Mrs. Potter (though I know exactly what name you'd rather have),

I hope you can understand my decision. I just couldn't go through with it. I hope soon you can come to terms with how you want to spend the rest of your life as well. He hopes you and B can come to the cottage after you take care of everything, but we understand if you don't. Just know that I'll always love you as a sister, sweetie.

All my love, Hermione

Ginny read the note over a few more times before she found herself smiling. Her chest filled with glee as she realized exactly who Hermione was with, and as she folded the note, the wheels in her own head began to turn.

A/N: I don't know why, but I've always loved the trope of people running away with each other. I may add this to a story later on, but for now enjoy this little scene! <3
