"Supergirl be careful you have a lot of citizens around you keep the fight closer to you. A strike team is on their way," Alex said in her ear. Kara didn't realize the amount of people around her and the aliens she'd been battling for the better part of an hour. She looked around at the crowd and spotted a familiar face, her girlfriend. Lena locked eyes with the hero and began to run towards the battle. She'd built herself a suit like Guardians but much better, she pressed the pendent on her necklace and the suit engulfed her body. Now in the middle of the fight she distracted one of the two aliens trying to get to Supergirl. The aliens had been defeated by the time the DEO team had gotten there and Kara had time to focus on her masked helper.

"Supergirl who's your helper over here?" Alex asked walking over to Kara.

"I don't know the suit lined with lead," Kara answered.

"Okay well we need to get back to the DEO," Alex told her sister.

"Alright I'll meet you there," Kara said walking away. Alex turned around and strutted to one of her vans with one of the unconscious aliens inside.

"I wish could've helped more. I didn't know this was going on or I would've been here sooner," the

"Thank you for the help maybe we can do this more in the future. What's your name?" Kara asked loud enough for the crowd to hear.

"Protector," Lena answered

"Well, Protector, I hope to work with you again," Kara said with a hint of sarcasm, she made sure the crowd heard.

"As do I," Lena said wanting to leave.

Kara started to walk away but stopped right next to Lena, "Go home. We'll talk when I get there," Kara whispered in anger.

Lena Heard the anger and walked over to the motorcycle that Kara hadn't noticed until now and rode off into night. Kara waved to a few children, threw up her fist and flew to the DEO.

"Alex!" she said walking in.

"Yes, Supergirl."

"The masked woman, tonight. Their name is Protector. That's all I could get out of them, but I need to get home, Lena's waiting."

"Alright go home to your girlfriend. I'll see you tomorrow, goodnight."

"Goodnight."

Kara thought about what she'd say when she got home as she flew. She thought about how wrong things could've gone, she thought about what Lena would say. She came in through the open window of her apartment she now shared. Lena was sitting on the couch in her own thoughts. Kara used her super speed to change into sweats and a t-shirt. She closed the open window and stood there for a few moments not speaking just breathing and listening to the sound of Lena's heart beat.

"Why?" she asked quietly.

"Why not?" Lena replied ready for the fight.

"Because this city doesn't need another superhero, meta-human or vigilante," Kara said facing Lena.

"I beg to differ. You couldn't have handled those aliens on your own, Kara."

"Yes I could have! I have many times before!"

"Why would you refuse help!? You needed me!"

"No, Lena I don't need you out there! You could've gotten seriously hurt!"

"But I didn't  because the suit I created is invulnerable! You just don't trust me, just like the rest of the world!"

"Bullshit, Lena! You know I trust you! I told you about Supergirl and I don't tell many people that! How long is it gonna take for you to realize that I'm not everyone else!"

"Then what is it!? My fighting skills!? My engineering!? What!? Cause I can't seem to figure out why you're reacting this way!"

"Lena! You could've gotten hurt! I don't want you to go out as Protector anymore!"

"Why!? I like doing this! You can't tell me what I can and can't do! I am a grown woman, I do what I please!"

Kara stared at the woman she loved, her heart breaking because Lena didn't understand the love she felt for her. Lena's green eyes were on fire with passion and anger. Lena loved arguing she would get into a yelling match over the smallest things but Kara had a way to hack the habit. She took a deep breath trying to calm herself.

"Lena, I love you. You can't even fathom how much I love you. I don't want to lose you. If being Protector is what you want to do then I can't stop you."

"Damn right. Just because we're in a relationship doesn't mean you can tell me what to do." Lena responded lowering her voice but keeping the anger.

"Oh my Rao, Lena! You don't get it do you!?" Kara said raising her voice again with sarcastic giggle.

"No! I don't why don't you enlighten me!?" Lena said matching Kara's tone.

"I already lost one world, I can't lose another," Kara eyes began to fill with tears. Lena began to cry realizing how selfish she'd been. She sometimes forgot what Kara had been through because she was always so happy and up-beat.

"Kara...I...," Lena trailed off. Kara just nodded tears rolling down her cheeks.

"I'm tired. I'm going to bed," Kara stated and left Lena standing in the living room.
