Between two Worlds

"Why are we doing this again?" I asked rolling the gift in my hand like a football, only to look over at Jeena who was too busy decorating the house with Christmas decorations that she brought after 25th of December, on sale where you get to buy the stuff for 1/4 of the original price, basically very cheap, that too in 2015. It was 2018 now.

She doesn't celebrate Christmas as far as I know, but she kept on telling me that she knew one day this will come in handy and that day is today. She even took me to buy all of these girly decoration junk, those scented candles, and fancy tissues. I was so out of place in that pink store. When I asked her why was I there, she told me she needs it to decorate Ezzah and Pamir's house as they will be back by tomorrow, giving them a welcome back was a stupid idea, they have to clean this all up later. I cannot believe I hate decoration so much, and here I am helping her to do it for someone else.

"Why are you standing there and not helping us?" Jeena complained as Ayan, Pamir's younger brother was serving as a slave for Jeena against his wishes because he made a mistake of coming here without informing anyone from Canada. Dude did not know he would be stuck that bad with us. He kept on calling his sister, who is in Pakistan because I opened the door. He wanted to confirm with her because both Pamir and Ezzah had chosen to shut their phones off while a strange man was at their door, but he saw Jeena coming here with this stupid idea in bags, and since then he is stuck with us. Should have called his mother but she was busy at the moment he said.

"I am trying to figure out, what will we get out of this? What is the point? They should be relaxing after they come back home not partying with us." I told her, hoping that she stops all this racket.

"Who said, they won't? We will finish our work here and give them time to relax by themselves. That's why I cleaned your room and even did the laundry." Jeena said making a disgusting face at the end. I am pretty sure she was not trying to make it. She just remembered the feeling of doing the chores for me.

"Wait! Why do I have a feeling that I am not going to be here?" I asked arching an eyebrow as I placed the gift on the couch, on my left. There was a deer-caught-by-headlights look on her face, but she never spoke.

"Jeena?" I called her out to speak up.

"Is she throwing you out or something?" Ayan asked, standing up straight as he finally placed the candles on the stand.

"I don't know. Jeena are you, throwing me out?" I asked, folding my hands over my chest as I gave her a sharp look.

"I... we... cannot you stay at a hotel for a day Rafan!" She whined at the end with a pleading glance. My heart softens at that. Why cannot I say no to her? God! I was so whipped.

"Bro, you can stay with me, if that is okay with you?" Ayan offered. Apparently, Ayan and his mom lived here too, but separate from Ezzah and Pamir. I looked over at Jeena with a pointy gaze. Before I could say anything else, we heard a throat being cleared, and all three of us looked over the person.

"Can I just say, I do not see why am I here?" It was the kid Jeena brought with herself. Her name was Maheen. She was probably seventeen or something. Apparently, Jeena had to baby- correction teen-site her because of her mother and father were desi which was funny because she was almost an all-grown-up person and she does not need that, but well we cannot do anything about extra cautious parents. I should know better.

"Oh, please stop already. You had a picture with a celebrity, so stop mopping." Jeena scoffed tilting her head towards Ayan who awkwardly looked away as Maheen glanced over at him again with gooey eyes. I think he is still not used to people acting like that towards him.
