You can never tell if you fully understand someone til you visit their home. It had been a few a day or so and me and Rebecca had grown closer. It wasn't until I asked to hang out that everything seemed to change. She had became a little quiet and shy. She jumps every time i spoke to her and even scarcely look in my direction.

It was a Friday, school was out and I had been working on my part for the upcoming play. Yes, I said it, we have a play coming up. It was actually written by Mr. Goose himself, he called it Stolen Dreams. Written to convey the dreams of a young man and what he plans to achieve them. It should last about a hour, and it has nearly everyone playing a part. For some odd reason he didn't want Rebecca to play a part. So instead she is gonna design the costumes. I felt that Rebecca would make a wonderful Actress and might be the best one we've had in years.

As I left the building Madeline and Harrison stepped me to the side. "Dylan, seems like Rebecca has you wrapped around her finger man. You haven't hanged out with us in a few days actually." Harrison says as they move me out the way of other students. I had notice I was becoming distant with my best friends and just procrastinated on talking to them. As he told me that he felt like we was losing our friendship. Madeline agreed and even said we was gonna go out to eat just so we can all chat and hang. "Alright, i'm sorry about being distant. I guess i was forgetting you guys. We can hang out tomorrow since we are all free." I gave them a smile and they sighed.

"Dylan you have to be there. Not a minute late, or I will personally come over and slap your brains out your left ear." Madeline spoke sternly with a more serious tone. I nodded laughing the fear of being smacked by Madeline away. Madeline wasn't large or anything but her brother who is a boxing champ in our state trained her how to fight and even twice a week takes her out to the gym. I feared getting not only my brain knocked out but also my soul.

Harrison simply laughed and placed his hand upon my shoulder. "Trust me bud, she hits like a full grown man. It's quite scary actually." He say giving me his best British accent as if he was mocking me. "Alright alright. I got it, now I have to go somewhere okay?" I said as I  pulled away from Harrison's' grasp.  He laughed at me and looked at Madeline. She nodded and they both began to walk away talking and joking around as always. I felt bad for trying to deal with Rebecca over my best friends, but sadly i felt the need to go and hang out with her.

As i made my way towards the large tree she is always sitting next I couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked as she sat there drawing in her small sketch book.  "Hey, Rebecca!" I yell out to her. She jumped hard dropping her sketchbook and looking up at me. She gave me a slight wave before looking around quickly.

As I reached her she smiles and looks passed me. Her attention had seem to be towards something behind me though I ignored it. As I sat next to her I get a chill and picked up her sketch book. "Have you ever heard of a Goosewing Hewing Ax?" She asked looking at me with a serious face and a clear tone. "I will say that is a weird and different question. All in all I have not heard of said ax, why do you ask?" As i responded she flipped through her sketchbook going to a page where a drawing of an ax sat. It was visually rusty and had what looked like blood drawn on it.

"Why did you show me that?" I questioned her and her face goes red as she closes her book. "It's for the play, I have one at home and it looks like that. I'm gonna make some changes with it for sure." As she spoke she had a shaky nervous tone. Did she not know what she was showing me? I suppose not since she seemed to be embarrassed about it. I never knew she could be so pretty when embarrassed, it made me smile.

"What are you smiling about?" She playfully pushed me and I laughed. "It's nothing really just you embarrassed is kinda cute." I responded while I smiled like a child. Her eyes widened and she quickly turned the other way. Making me laugh out even more. "You're just saying that to get at me." She says softly almost to where I couldn't hear her.  "Do you honestly think that I would use you? I would never that's the lowest move anyone can do." Giving her the most honest response I've ever said in years.

A smile then grew upon her face. Following that was a dark blush. "That's so sweet Dylan. No one has ever said that to me." After her response I chuckle a bit. "Well it's the truth, you're my friend so I feel comfortable." She smiled at me with blissful eyes standing up hugging me tightly. My face turned red as i blushed dark. I didn't expect a hug from her it caught me off guard. Maybe i am saying the right thing. I hope I am if that's the case. As she let go of me and steps back I couldn't help but to stare into her beautiful eyes.

"Why are you looking at me like that? It's embarrassing." She says after looking away. I blushed even more before looking away. "Hey! let me show you something I found." She said suddenly, right before grabbing my hand and leading me behind the school. What exactly did she find? I hope it isn't something dead. As we walked passed an old desk and a few trashcans we made a stop at a dark hallway entrance.

I had a worried look on my face as i looked down the old hall. "This is my hiding spot." She says with a calmed look. Worrying me even more. What exactly does she need to hide from that she needs to come all the way over here to this dark ass hallway? I clinched my fist together and frowned. "What exactly are you hiding from?" I asked keeping my cool as she answered. "Well, you can't tell anyone this. I mean anyone, this is between me and you." She tapped her foot against the ground as she fidgeted with her hands.

"Mr. Goose is my foster parent." The words she said put a shocked expression upon my face. I didn't believe it, i couldn't believe it. She didn't seem like the type to be adopted. Though you never know these days. "Oh, I wont tell anyone. I promise you that." I give her a pinkie promise and a warm smile. I've never seen such a loving look on anyone's face. This must mean she trust me more than anyone else at this school.

I had always thought she was shy and always quiet. Surprisingly if you get to know her she is quite the talker and can even keep a pretty decent conversation going. I am glad that i am her friend and that she trusts me with her secrets. I trust her as well maybe on day i will take her out to eat so she can get out and stop sulking in that sketchbook...~
