Maverick stayed at school so cash drove us home. I seen his hands shaking on the steering wheel. When he seen that I noticed his hands he clenched on the wheel harder. I put my hand on top of his and he took a deep breath out. "Are you okay?" I asked him. He clenched his jaw together. "What's wrong?" I asked him again. "I can't believe they did that to you. I shouldn't have dragged you into this mess."
"What mess?"
"This all because of me." He said hitting his hands on the steering wheel. "No it's not." I said grabbing his arm to stop him from hitting the steering wheel again.
"Look what they did to your beautiful face." He said looking at me then turning away. "It's gonna be fine."
I reassured him.
"What if they do this to you again? This is my fault y/n."
"No it's not!" I said louder this time. He looked at me. "I don't want to hurt you." His voice cracked. I just noticed that he was crying.
"It's not you. This isn't you."
"I think we need to-" he looked at me
"Need to what?" I asked
"I think we need to take a break. From eachother."
I was shooked. I felt tears building up in my eyes. "What?"
"We need to take a break. This relationship is hurting you, and I can't let that happen anymore."
It was quiet the rest of the way home. When we got to my house I got out of the passenger side slamming the door and running to the door. He didn't try to stop me. He just watched me.
I looked at him before shutting the door. I ran to my room and cried myself to sleep.
