Shaggy sank onto one knee in front of Daphne. "Daphne, will you marry me?"
Daphne's eyes filled with happy tears as she smiled down at him. "Of course I will!"
He slipped the ring on her finger before rising up and kissing her. Then they held hands as they walked off together.
Shaggy made up his mind. Tomorrow he would go to meet her parents to ask for their blessing.
The following day, Shaggy woke up early, dressed up in something other than his usual outfit and went to meet up with her parents.

They disapproved of Shaggy. What parent would approve of a 20-something-year old stoner obsessed with food and his dog who had no job, no money, and constantly put their daughter in danger?
Shaggy felt dejected. He needed some way to make Daphne's parents like him so he cleaned up and invited Daphne and her family out to dinner so he could try again.

Daphne stood up from her spot and said, "I don't care if you like Shaggy or you don't. I love Shaggy!"
Her mother spoke up. "He has no ambition! He cares more about food and his dog than you! And he's a stoner! There's no love there."
"You want to know why I love him? I love him for so many reasons. He has been there for me when no one else did. He has helped me through so much and we have been through so much together. He makes me happy and I like who I am with him."
Her parents looked at each other. With a sigh, they said, "Well it's your choice."
"Then I choose Shaggy."
Her parents then turned to Shaggy. "Take care of her or else."
"Like I'd ever hurt the woman I love. Like that's crazy!"
He then hugged Daphne and they walked out the restaurant together.
