Kat had watched the amount of support that Markus still had, the amount of motivation he managed to draw out from the crowd of androids who had just been through a night of hell. He called it the Jericho massacre. The massacre of their people. And they now had something against the humans, they were not to retaliate violently. Still, they cheered for him, they had hope. Kat smiled to herself feeling a sense of elation within herself for the first time that night. Her eyes scan for Connor, seeing him in the ragged clothes half expecting to see the formal suit he always wore. He was speaking to Markus so she turns back to Kara and Alice who she had been comforting about the losses of the night before. After Connor had saved her they were split up again as she helped Kara and Alice and Connor helped carry some injured. She still felt a heavy ache in her chest when remembering last night and what had transpired. She did her best to cheer up the little girl who managed a shy little smile. Kara had thanked her time and time again saying that they wouldn't be alive if it were not for her intervening. She had help Alice's hand throughout the rest of the night, the girl not wanting to let go of neither her mother or Kat who she had grown rather fond of. Kat smiled at the prospect of an android being a mother, understanding the inseparable bond between the two, each having an equally tragic story. Kat knew that the number of people she cared for had increased and she would do anything to help them now. The past few weeks had taught her the most humanity she was sure she hadn't possessed in her previous life.
Connor had gone up the stairs of the church after speaking to Markus, walking into a room that looked as if it had its roof ripped off, allowing for the gentle drifting snowflakes to fall onto the overturned benches and scattered bible, forming a white coat that sparkled in the sunrise.
Connor averted his gaze to the sunrise, that shone grimly over the shipyard. They hadn't gone too far, they didn't have the time nor were they able to carry the injured too far. instead, they had climbed over a hill that overlooked the shipyard and took refuge in an abandoned church, religion has no importance to the humans anymore. This almost troubles Connor. If they had no faith, what did they believe in? Androids had RA9, a Godly figure they all silently looked for. But humans seemed to have turned their back on religion, turned their back on technology, so what did they have? Or where they just empty vessels carrying themselves to their graves with no hopes. Connor frowned at this train of thought, dispelling it with some effort from his mind, instead of looking back towards the sky that was tinted with a deep red as the sun slowly peaked over the hill, its rays just barely stretching over the smoke of what was left of Jericho.
"They used to say-" Her voice was gentle but it shocked Connor, shaking him out of his thoughts "-that if it's a red sunrise, blood had been spilled that night." She comes up to him and stands next to him, marveling at the beautiful display of orange and red light as if brushed across the sky. And for a moment Connor felt at peace, he forgot his mission, he just looked at her. He didn't observe anymore, he was perfectly content with just having her next to him and being able to look at her.
