I look to you when everything else is in the midst of annihilation /
I think: it will only drown you if you let it / it will only devour you if you serve your own flesh and soul yourself /
to the hungering beast / that is gnashing at your heels /
you try to tame it / but no affection will make it love you / no amount of martyrdom will make them love you /
and see you in a different light /
I am drowning / but I heard the sea will only tell its secrets to those willing to drown /
and so, the martyrdom continues / in a fastidious cycle / and I near ever so closer to the end of days on this / bleak yet vibrant world /
where love is the point / but I stray further from it on the verge of self-slaughter /
I'm flying too close to the sun, / again /
and I feel myself burning at the thought of you / of me / of everything and everyone I have ever lost /
and so, I am willing to drown / and to the sea I will ask: /
what is it to love and love without loss?
