[ xi. curious messages ]
/ IRL /

CONCENTRATING ON THE video game Garrett was playing on his flat screen. Squeezing tighter onto his game controller, he managed to get the lead. Garrett caught a glimpse at Madeline and Lincoln staring deeply at the television screen in front of them. "Why won't my fucking character go any faster?!" Madeline yelled out in rage. Garrett looked back at the screen, noticing he was still in the lead.

"I call playing next!" Paige shouted from the kitchen. Devon looked up from her phone screen and chuckled at the way her three friends were too invested on Mario Kart.

"It's just a meaningless video game," Devon informed as she fixed her posture.

"You guys' should just give up now," Garrett added with a smirk. Purposely changing the topic Devon tried to start. Lincoln shook his head without saying a word. "I am the king bow down to me, peasants."

Devon heard a phone beside of her start to buzz from notifications. Her curiosity caused her eyes to wander to the phone. A contact name called "mollie percocets" with a heart beside of it. Her mouth dropped and she looked over at Garrett who was too busy playing Mario Kart to even notice. Her interest piqued once she confirmed Garrett wouldn't be looking over anytime soon.

She hesitantly reached over for the phone and grabbed it. She held it down and started to look at the notifications. The only thing that caught her eye was the contact name and the message underneath. "Who's 'mollie percocets'?" Devon questioned with a smirk. Garrett's eyes shot open wide, but tried to play it off as no reaction.

"'Mollie percocets'?" Paige asked as she walked into the room holding a bag of tortilla chips. Garrett could feel his nervous perspiration start running down the sides of his forehead. He still looked like he was too focused on the game to even function, but in reality, he wasn't focused at all. "Who's that?"

"What'd she say?" Garrett asked just to change the subject. Well, he still wanted to know what Millie had said. Paige and Devon looked at each other with surprised faces.

"A she, huh?" Paige snickered childishly.

"It's Millie," Madeline informed carelessly as she kept focusing on the game. Garrett could feel his face heating up quickly. He felt his face on fire, but it was just the embarrassment getting to him.

Lincoln sniffled dramatically as if he was proud of him for getting a girl. Devon respectively put his phone back to its original place while Paige squeezed in the chair she was also in. "How'd you know?" Paige decided to question since she didn't understand. Madeline shrugged, leaning back into the soft couch.

"Common sense." Cutting her off before she could explain, Lincoln and Garrett let out loud yells towards the television. Garrett shot up from his sitting position and pointed to the television.

"In your face, Linny!" Garrett shouted with a wide smile on his face. Lincoln shot up, pointing to the screen as well.

"That is absolutely ridiculous! And I am not a Wonder Pet, asshole!" Lincoln hurriedly explained in a loud tone of voice.
