{16. The device}

Me and Alaric were together and I saw Damon is walking towards us. "Ric!"

"Yeah?" Alaric said. "You keep those nifty little vampire darts in the car." Damon asked him. "Yeah, why do you ask?" "Because this square is crawling with tomb vampires. I think we might need a stake or two." Damon told him.

"Yeah, got it.." he said and turns to me. "Stay with Damon." He told me kissing my lips as Alaric leaves and Damon sees Stefan and Elena, so he grabs my as we go toward them and takes Elena's hand.

"What are you doing?" Elena asked him. "Saving your life. Fifteen words or less...Tomb vamps are here. Founding families are their target." He said and Damon looks at Stefan. "Get her out of here, now!" He told her as we were about to leave but Stefan stopped us.

"Wait, where are you guys going?" Stefan asked us. "That's more than fifteen words, Stefan." Damon told him as we leave.

Me and Damon arrived at Grayson Gilbert's Office as we see John is preparing the device and we arrive. "Do you have any idea what you've done?" Damon asked him. "Yeah, as a matter of fact I do." John said as me and Damon go toward him but John activates the device and I fall to the ground and so does Damon and we grab the sides of our heads and screams as we are still on the floor holding our heads and John injects us with vervain.

The device is stopped by John and John takes everything back and goes in the basement as Damon is on the floor, unconscious. Deputies are bringing more vampires. "The device is done; the only thing keeping them down is vervain. We don't have much time, let's finish this." John told them as I was leaving awake.

Damon begins to wake up; one of the Deputies is pouring gasoline everywhere. John begins to leave but Anna catches his leg. She's on the floor. He looks at her. "Anna." John said.

"Don't touch her you bastard." I told him weakly and he rolled his eyes and Damon turns his head and looks at them.

John looks at the Deputy. "You can head up; I'll take it from here." He said and the Deputy leaves, Anna tries to get up, Damon is still looking at them. John takes a stake from his back.

"Please...no!" She pleads but John stakes her. "You bastard, I'm going to kill you." I growled as John came up to me and I knew Damon was behind me. "No, you won't." He said as he puts the stake close to my heart. "Any last words Luna?" John asked me.

"Rot in hell, John Gilbert." I growled as John stakes me and I gasped and felt my skin turn grey as Damon looks at him and then his first love who was now dead and he felt a tear go down his cheek and John pours more gasoline. He goes up the stairs and pours a trail of gasoline up them. He goes out of the basement and lights a match and throws it on the gasoline. A fire starts. Some of the vampires begin to burn. Damon looks at them.
