[ READER POV ]
I had awoken abruptly on a cold, tile floor. As I sat up, shivering, my eyes began to adjust to being awake, giving me the opportunity to make out where I was. I was in an empty, white room with only an old, rugged bed that had a single pillow and a white blanket. There was also a small bedside table with a lamp on top.
As I tried to get up, I winced as my whole body vibrated out of pain, I just fell right back to the floor. When I looked down at myself, I noticed blotches of dry blood stained on the sleeves of my light grey sweater, though I couldn't seem to find the source of the bleed.
I soon found myself huddled into the corner, holding my legs against my chest as I began to sob quietly. I had no idea where I was and I had no knowledge on what happened after I blacked out. Assuming that the man who was following me before had kidnapped me, it only made me feel even worse.
I was taken over by pure terror, being too scared to move or say anything, afraid that I would end up hurt in someway. I just sat there in silence, hot tears burning my skin as they rolled down my cheeks. I thought of everyone in my life that I loved; my parents, friends, and boyfriend. I wondered if they were in search of me or if they even missed me.
The next few hours seemed to pass by so slowly while I was sat there, everything still seeming to be so unreal, I still couldn't believe it. Slowly, I began to get up with a groan, trying to hold onto the wall for support then limping my way towards the door.
"What the hell is going on.." I whispered to myself, a tiny whimper exiting from my lips. I quickly grasped onto the doorknob, turning it frantically as I was desperate to escape. As expected, it was locked, I was still trapped.
"LET ME OUT" I shouted as loud as I could, so loud that it hurt my throat, banging on the piece of old wood in hopes someone would hear.
It was no use, I got absolutely no response. As I let out a sigh of defeat, I let myself collapse on the bed nearby the door. I stared up at the rotting ceiling, getting lost in my own thoughts before I heard faint footsteps coming from the other side of the door. I quickly shot up, being as silent as I could so I could get a better listen.
"Hello?" I called out quietly, my voice cracking as I spoke. "Please, if anyone's out there... let me out. I will do anything. I'm begging you."
The doorknob began to turn a few times before the door slowly made an opening, creaking loudly. At first I couldn't see who it was as the bed faced the back of the door, but then a figure came into my view. And there he was. I was met with the same man from the woods, and suddenly everything had started to make sense.
And there he stood, staring right back at me. This time around, he was just wearing a simple, black turtleneck. His goggles were now resting at the top of his head and that mask he was wearing before was off. I first noticed the large gash on his cheek, frowning at the sight.
After a long period of silence, I cleared my throat and began to speak up.
"Wh-Who are you..?" I whispered with fear in my quiet voice, backing up on the bed to get as far from him as possible.
At first, he ignored my question, a small smirk forming on his lips. He just watched me as I struggled, obviously very amused by it.
"Aw, come on, Y/N. Don't you remember me?" He let out a devious laugh, cocking his head to the side as his brown eyes met mine.
"Why would I—" I began, immediately pausing as I processed what he had just said. "How do you know my name?"
The strange man looked quite angered at the fact I hadn't 'remembered' him, which brought much confusion to myself. Why did he expect me to know who he was? I've never seen this man before, prior to that night in the woods.
Or had I?
After his anger towards me, his mood suddenly changed once again. He seemed quite obviously unstable. I watched as that sly grin of his crept back on his lips, his silent laughter sending chills down my spine.
"It's me, Toby. Toby Rogers." He announced blatantly, glaring at me as if he was waiting for some sort of reaction.
I stared at him blankly, still very confused about the situation. Part of me wanted to go off on him, maybe even attempt to hurt him in order to escape. But, the other part of me knew that was way too risky.
I thought to myself for a moment before sudden memories came flooding into my head, and soon I had remembered everything.
