Origin: Qrow's name comes from the word crow, which is a bird. Hummingbirds are birds that you find in the summer. In this ship Qrow is being shipped with the character Summer Rose.
Opinion: I don't think I've ever expressed my opinion on this ship. But oh my gosh do I love this ship to pieces. I was actually part of the fandom that believed that Qrow was Ruby's biological father and while that theory has been disproven I still don't think Taiyang is her biological father but that's a theory for another day. Anyway back to this. While we barely know anything about Summer I imagine her being just like her daughter Ruby. Because of this I headcanon her as happy, sweet, kind, and of course caring to her teammates. I bet that at first Qrow was a bit turned off by Summer's perkiness, similar to how Weiss was to Ruby in the Beacon arc, but over time he allowed his walls to come down and he grew closer to the silver eyed huntress. Maybe she was the first one he told about his bad luck semblance. And while it may not be obvious to some, it's obvious to me how much Qrow really cared for Summer. First: Ruby, Summer's daughter, isn't even his biological niece but he still allows her to call him "uncle" and he's very close to her. If he wasn't close to her mother I bet that he wouldn't have trained Ruby like he did. And in volume 6 there was an instance in the finale where Qrow almost seemed scared that he was going to lose Ruby, similar to how he lost Summer. Second: His necklace, hear me out. Qrow is based on one of the ravens that served Odin in Norse Mythology. In Norse mythology wearing a sideways cross necklace symbolized lost love. You see where I'm getting at? It's obvious he loved summer, or else he wouldn't have that necklace. So while we can't get Summer's side of the ship since she's dead I still love it purely based off all the headcanons I have. I just hope we get some answers to them soon. But anyway I love this ship so much. Definitely high on my list of ship choices for both of them.
