Origin: Clover has a good luck semblance and Qrow has a bad luck semblance. They balance each other out making things fair. As for lucky charms, well both of them have luck based semblances and Clover loves to wear his lucky charms all over his uniform XD.
Opinion: Note that I'm gonna count this as Fairgame Week 2020 Day 3 because I couldn't think of anything else to write or draw XD. Anyway if you've looked at the books I've been reading recently, the art I've been posting or even what I named my Rwby fanfic reading list then you know how I feel about this ship. I absolutely adore it. Qrow is a character that has been shown throughout the show as a hurting, broken person who desperately needs something good in his life. And yeah while Ruby and Yang are definitely good positive lights in his life, let's be real, they're young adults who have their own friends and own teams, Qrow needs someone his own age to hang out with and to talk to and that's what I feel Clover was. But then of course I began to see the possibility of them being a couple especially due to certain scenes such as Clover winking at Qrow after telling him his semblance or Qrow smiling slightly when Clover compliments him. I mean c'mon that was an adorable embarrassed smile he did. So cute. The two of them are also the perfect example of opposites attract which is a trope that I love. I mean aside from that there isn't really a reason why I ship it but every time I see these two on screen I can't help but smile. Maybe the other reason I ship it is because the ship reminds me the Ace Attorney ship WrightWorth which is actually another ship that involves a character voiced by Chris Wehkamp. And if you guys have seen ace attorney then you'll see what I mean. And if you haven't I actually reviewed WrightWorth in a previous chapter so you can see it there. Also c'mon Phoenix Wright, Qrow Branwen? Phoenix...Qrow...their both birds. How much more similar can you get?
Now it's sadly time to address the elephant in the room. I will be the first to admit that Clover's death made me sad more because he was a character I liked as opposed to the fact that now Fair Game won't be canon. But I know that many people feel that Clover's death was a cruel way to queer bait the fandom. Now you're completely justified in feeling this way but as for me I don't see it that way. Listen the majority of the hype from this ship came from the social media team who used images and gifs of these two to promote the show and, in a way, love for the ship. Seems harmless enough until of course we get to Clover dying, then you're just left with angry hurt fans. So I don't see it as queer baiting as opposed to poor communication between the writers who knew the endgame of the volume and the marketing team. But I will say that it wasn't cool that the crwby didn't at least speak to the marketing team to tell them what they had planned. Instead they let this ship fuel publicity for the show. They should've stopped it before it got so out of hand. Also if they weren't intending for Clover and Qrow to be a thing then maybe they should've made the friendship aspect of them shine a bit more. Because if my eyes, the eyes of the densest person when it comes to recognizing what's meant to be a shipping scene, can see romantic subtext then...it's there. Anyway that's just my opinion tell me yours and if you agree with me or not. Also keep sending in ships for me to rate.
