Bad boys aren't always bad

The Practice Match

(Emma's POV)

After the Karasuno team introduced themselves Oikawa introduced everyone on our team. He decided to be a dork and say,

"Last but not least is our manager Emma, shes keeps track of what we do and even brings us food."

At the first mention of a woman's name I could see Tanaka and Nishinoya perk up it was a little funny. After the introductions were over we followed the team into their gym. The guys all did a few stretches before I heard tanaka trying to rile them up.

"That's all the stretching you're going to do? You must be out of it guys, Emma it might just be better for you to come to Karasuno to be one of our managers instead!"

That got a few of the guys attention. They were sending him glares, I couldn't help but smirk and say,

"Tanaka-san you haven't seen the power of our team yet, dont underestimate us."

One of their first years with blonde hair, wait his name was Tsukishima spoke up and said,

"You have a lot to say when we dont even know if you know how to play or not. What seems good to you might be average"

This guy already annoyed me and he had only spoke for a few minutes. I knew his type so I said,

"I have trained with these guys since the beginning of the year, I make sure they have everything they need function and succed. Because of their own drive and motovations they have reached the point theyre at now."

From outside we could hear the sound of someone stopping a bike, switching shoes and running inside before a bright orange haired boy came running in and said,

"Sorry I'm late captain!! I had to rush and drop off my sister at home!"

He bowed before standing up and saw us yelping slightly and said,

"G-grand king!"

Oikawa seemed surprised and muttered back the nickname in surprise before Daichi said,

"Hinata it's okay you told me about you being late during lunch today when you practiced recieves with suga"

The boy nodded a little embarrassed and introduced himself as Hinata Shouyou. Oikawa seemed to watch him for a minute before turning his attention back to Daichi.

( Kyoutani's POV)

The boys from this school all seem annoying. And who the hell was that blonde first year talking that way to Emma, does he not realize she is in a higher grade than he is? I must have had an angry look of my face because the orange fluff ball jumped back and hid behind the bald third year and said,

"Wh-what are you glaring at?! You wanna fight!?"

This kid really wants to say that while he's hiding behind someone? This looks like its a normal thing that happens around here. While the team was doing warm ups I saw Emma go to fill up the water bottles. From Karasunos side the bright fluff ball spoke up,

"Wahh kageyama were playing against the grand king! Were actually playing against another school for once!"

The guy I'm guessing was kageyama smacked the back of his head, which reminded me of Iwazumi, and said,

"Hinata-boke!! Why are you so excited to play against him! He's nothing special."

Man this kid had a grudge against Oikawa huh? Wouldnt be a first time but I could see as Oikawa ducked under the net and walked over saying,

"Is my old kouhai talking bad about me? In front of someone who gave me such a surprising nickname too. Say chibi-chan what position do you play?"

The red head looked extremely excited to answer and was about to before Kageyama cut in saying,

"You don't need to know his position until we play."

Oikawa seemed to ignore him and turned his attention back to Hinata.

"Whyd you use that nickname chibi-chan?"

He was obviously trying to use his charm but it was like the boy wasn't effected at all as he said,

"Well Bakegama was called king of the court when I played against him in junior high, if you were his senpai then you'd have to be the grand king!"

Kageyama actually tried to hit the smaller for what he said but Hinata ducked under his hand. Geez those two just seemed like a handful, but Oikawa seemed to be enjoying watching the scene the two of them were making. Until their captain called them over to the group huddle.

During the practice match I started hearing that bald third year talking about how he was going to flirt with Emma when I was about to spike and I didn't know why I was so mad but my spike had more force then I meant to and it almost got out of bounds. Shit. Oikawa got my attention and said,

"We call know she wouldn't go for him, whatever you're feeling needs to get settled later but for now focus on the game okay? Look shes even over there with the coach watching, shes smiling too."

I was of course surprised that Oikawa said something so calm and rational but I did look over towards the benches and saw exactly what he had said, she was smiling. It didn't matter if it was because of me or because we were winning, hell all I could care about was the fact that she wouldn't try leaving us for one of the guys from Karasuno.

I focused back in on the game but got switched out, nobody usually complains too much if I mess up. But as soon as I got over to the bench area Emma grabbed the collar of my jersey and pushed me back into the wall startling me slightly. I looked at her shocked, she had this fiery look in her eyes as she said,

"Whats gotten into you this time kyoutani! You were doing fine with team practices just yesterday now you're stealing the ball from your teammates again!"

I was shocked, she never yelled or got frustrated like this with me...she was that frustrated that I got mad? Or was it just about the team?

(Emma's POV)

I couldn't help my outburst. I just got so mad that he got kicked out because he was stealing the ball again! He had been doing so well! I hadn't realized how loud I had been when I yelled at him till I realized that nobody was playing and kyoutani looked shocked. Slowly I looked over my shoulder and it confirmed that the game had paused everyone on the aoba johsai team looked even more shocked that I had yelled, I slowly let go of Kyoutani's jersey and muttered.

"Sorry...."

I hid my anger behind quiet and got him a water bottle and little towel, once everyone thought I was calm they went back to playing.

It wasn't long before the practice match ended. Aoba johsai had one but it was a close call, the fluffy red head seemed disappointed and since he was near me I ruffled his hair saying,

"Hey Hinata-kun cheer up, we will come play again some time!"

He didn't say anything but his whole body erupted in red? He was blushing extremely. I was worried but said goodbye and walked out with everyone, I still hadn't talked to kyoutani since the outburst. I didn't know if I wanted to yet either, hell he might not even want to talk to me. Once all the boys were outside the coach said,

"Since you've all worked hard and you won the practice game for the rest of the day you can go around town and have some fun."

We bowed and thanked him. Before everyone started to disperse but as I looked around i noticed something. Kyoutani hadn't left yet. He made sure we were alone before he sighed.

"We need to talk about what happened Emma."
