Life continues as normal for Lena, her mother remaining the only disruption to her preferred lifestyle of extravagant parties followed by periods of study and solitude.
Lena's always had an appreciation for the postal service, the organization and efficiency of it all. One thing she does not like however, is impersonal, non-practical mail. Lena receives one such parcel that afternoon, a small garden catalogue and a package of seeds. She tosses them aside with the intent to dispose of them later. She continues leafing through the remainder of her mail, however her mind seems to wander, as it often does these days, to one thing. The woman who forwarded her mail. She finds herself imagining what her life is like. She finds herself picturing summer, a warm breeze in the garden. Suddenly an idea comes to her, Lena frantically searches her desk for that yellow envelope, hoping it hasn't been thrown away. She turns it over to examine the seal. The wax is stamped with a dainty pattern of flowers.

Dear Miss Danvers,
I hope you will not find this too intrusive as that is not my intent. I had received this package in the mail, and was about to throw it away, (for i have nothing resembling a green thumb) when I thought of you. I have inferred from your stamp that you like flowers - I hope this is true. Please feel free to dispose of, or pass on, these seeds if my assumption was incorrect. I just thought Someone else might be able to appreciate their beauty.
Best regards,
Lena

Kara is almost too excited when they arrive, she really loves flowers.

Dear Lena,
(I hope I may call you that) I want to thank you for your lovely gift! You are very observant - I am actually an aspiring florist, so yes, I do like flowers.
I've been thinking, with all of this correspondence, we must be destined to know one another. So, I propose that we continue our correspondence, and truly get to know one another. Perhaps we could be pen pals of sorts?
Hopefully,
Kara

Kara's heart is racing with excitement as she pens this letter. The prospect of a new, almost secret, friend is enticing.
She hopes she's not coming off as too forward, but the distance between them and the anonymity of the written word makes her brave.
