"We have to go Athena" My mom tried to beg me to go to the pharmacy with her "I would rather die than go outside" I told her frustrated because I really don't want to go "I will not let anything happen to you, and if something does happen, your dad and I will keep you safe" My Mom assured me and I finally give in "Fine" I sighed

As we were walking down the tracks near the woods I tapped my mom on her shoulders "Im really scared" I told her "Don't worry sweetie, just don't make noise and it will be fine" My mom signed but I was still worried "But what if some else makes noise" I pointed out and my mom shakes her head "Than we will have to run away as fast as we can" She signed and my dad nodded his head in agreement "Ok"

"Sit right here as we find you a medicine" My mom signed and I sat on the floor and I see a family walk in and an older guy was holding someone and he looked sick. The Mom looks at me "Hope he feels better" I told them and the Mom smiled "Thank you" She signed and went back to her family and her kids scattered around and they gently place the kid they were holding on the floor and they took the pill then they left to go find there other children

I hesitated to walk over but I did anyway. I tipped toed over to him slowly and quietly and I sit down next to him and he turns his head and look at me "Hey" I signed "Hi" he signed back "Im sick as well" I said "Did I get it from you?" He signed and I laugh quietly "I hardly go outside because of everything's thats going on" I told him and I looked down "Me too" He whispered that no one else can hear except him and I

I heard footsteps and I look up and see my mom holding a pill bottle, I get up and took the pill "Time to go" My mom signed. The boy and I giggled because his mom and my mom signed that at the same time. His dad went to pick the boy up again but he shook his head "Im fine now" And his dad nodded his head then we all started walking back home

As we were walking along the tracks, We found out each others name. I hear music playing and we all stop dead in our tracks and turn around to see Marcus little brother playing with a toy plane. We all looked at him and I started freaking out and breath heavily and I almost started crying, this is the first time Im gonna see the monster. I was about to cry but then Marcus pulled me away to where everyone was and Marcus Dad starts running towards the kid as fast as he could. I can see the monster running through the forest and I almost yelled out of fear but Marcus covers my mouth.

Marcus Dad was so close to getting him but the big creature snatched the boy right before all of our eyes and then I fell on floor and put my knees against my chest and just sat there shocked. I can't even imagine one of my family members being killed by a monster, poor Marcus...

I was sitting at the dinner table with my arms folded still think about what happened earlier "Athena eat" My Mom told me and I look back down at my bowl then looked back at my Mom and shook my head "Why not" my mom asked "Because Marcus brother just died and I witnessed it" I signed "You don't know him personally Athena" My Mom told me then places down her bowl of supper and sits down in front of me "But I want to" I signed. My Mom stand up again and waves her hand for me to follow her.

She took me to a room we built underground, we can talk under there "Do you like him or something?" My Mom asked "No, I just want to have a friend for once" I whined "Listen, If we see them again, we will make a plan ok" My Mom said and I rolled my eyes and went back upstairs to eat my semi warm food

Its been about a year since I've lasty seen Marcus and his family until today. I was walking down the tracks with my beanie on my head, a scarf around my neck and hands in my pockets looking down

There were leaves on the ground so with each step I took, I hear the crunching on the leaves under my feet. Then I started hearing someone else's feet. I stopped walking and then I turned around to see Marcus and his dad behind me. I sighed in relief and smiled at Marcus and He smiles back. They started catching up with me and they both sign "Hi" and I signed hi back

I look at Marcus and he looks kind of scared "Are you ok?" I asked him and, then he looked at me "Nothing, just my dad making me do something I don't want to do" Then Marcus looked up at his Dad "You need to learn how to survive" His dad told him "Where you guys going?" I asked curiously because it seems pretty important "Were going by the loud water to go fishing" Marcus answered rolling his eyes at his Dad

"If I see the monster and I die, Im blaming you for my death" Marcus told his father and his Dad chuckled quietly "You're not gonna die and you not gonna see the monster" His Dad reassured messing with his sons hair. Thats what my parents told me before we went to the pharmacy last year, and we saw the monster. "I better go before my parents get concerned" I told them smiling and they both nodded their head "I hope we see you around again" Marcus dad told me and I nodded my head smiling hoping that we will run into each other again. Marcus and I have a short hug, and I walked back to my home that was not to far away...

I don't why, but I felt butterfly's in my stomach when we hugged. Even though it was short.. it felt comforting, I mean... he's not that bad looking
