[A Few Days Later]

I sat at my computer typing away at a relatively fast pace. Checking the code I was writing and uploading data. Ariana was behind me along with Nalalie, they were talking about something I wasn't particularly interested in so I didn't bother listening to them. I had created an earpiece that allows translation automatically between two or more people so the two could talk, evidently they became friends rather quick. Suddenly Ariana came up beside me.

Ariana: "Nalalie and I are going out, want us to bring you anything?"

I didn't so much as slow down as I answered.

Me: "Where are you going?"

Ariana: "Into Vale to get something to eat. Nalalie has never tried crepes, isn't that crazy?"

Me: "Not really, she's from another dimension. They probably haven't tried the concept. Especially Dark Elf culture. In that dimension Dark Elves are very minimalistic, they focus on meditation and usually stick to a diet of bread and water, or something similar. At least that's how most Dark Elves are, they rather focus on meditation then possessions. Additionally traditions may not hold true presently since it's been about 200 years since I last gathered that information."

There was a moment where she didn't speak. I would have expected for her to get used to my way of speech by now, she knew where Nalalie had come from so I knew she was just trying to figure out what I had just said.

Ariana: "Oh... uh... okay. Well we're gonna head out now..."

Me: "Just contact me if you need anything. The analytic recorder also functions as a two way communication device, just say 'Call (Y/N)' and it'll patch you through to me."

Ariana: "Okay."

And with that, I was alone. The project I was working on was nearing completion. I was designing an AI to replace my current low grade automated system. My current system was fine and all but I want to upgrade it to help me with sorting and cataloging all my items. This new AI would have a much more... human feel to it as well. It'll be able to analyze a situation and then make decisions on its own, without me having to do anything. Of course I created countless failsafes, backups, and kill switches just in case it decides to go AWOL. After a few more minutes of typing I stretched and got up from my computer. I reached over to one of the ports of my computer and grabbed the USB that was sticking out of it, then walked over to a machine that would insert the AI into the device implanted in my neck. There was a metal table with a thin piece of cloth covering it, then there was a structure above it with two mechanical arms, one with a scanner, the other with a long thin needle. I plugged the USB into the machine and sat down on the table. The machine instantly got to work. The machine began scanning the back of my neck, it then beeped.

Automated Voice: "Program loaded. Micro-port located. Artificial intelligence functioning at 100%. Continue with download?"

Me: "Yes."

Automated Voice: "Digital transfer needle heated to correct temperature. Artificial intelligence ready for download. Please remain still."

I simply waited as the machine began moving and positioned the needle to my neck. In one quick motion I felt the heated needle stab into the back of my neck. Suddenly digital text began flowing across my vision, updating me on the downloads progress and the step it was on, although the text was moving so fast it was nearly impossible to read it in time before it disappeared and was replaced. After a few more seconds the needle retracted.

Automated Voice: "Download complete."

I waited another moment until a voice came into my mind.

AI: "Hello (Y/N). How may I be of service?"
