Chapter One: Rosie

"Make sure to try out!" Boomed Mr. Cory, the director of this year's school play. I rolled my eyes and grinned.

'Human high schools are very lively' I thought to myself. Well at least this central high school in this small town in Oregon was. The school was always packed with all different kinds of people. Some with curly black hair, others blonde; but not a lot like me. I had straight red strands that fell just a little past my shoulders and crimson eyes, or so I'd been told. Us vampires couldn't look in the mirror.

 I watched the boy in front of me order two scoops of mash potatoes and that was it. "You're going to get fat," I mumbled to him. He snorted and tightened the grip on his tray.

 "Mind your own business," he snapped before walking towards the tables. The only reason I told him that was because I hated the taste of fat people's blood. I couldn't care less about him. Sometimes humans were so dumb.

 I sighed and looked up at the cafeteria lady. She smiled. "What would you like?" She asked in a loud rough voice.

 "Just a pizza please." I lied. What I really wanted was some sweet blood, but I'd never tasted that. The more hate someone had towards you the more bitter the taste, but the more love they had towards you the sweeter the blood.

 I was about to move up in line, but stopped cold, realizing my phone was playing the song Dark Horse. Everyone in the lunch line turned to me as I quickly pulled it out. My cheeks turned red.

 It was a text message. *Lets meet in the school garden for lunch.* My best friend texted me. I nodded and then remembered that she couldn't see me. Sometimes I could be such an airhead. *Okay I'm coming now. I'm starving for human blood find any?* I texted back teasing her. Cassidy didn't drink human blood. She'd rather stick with animals.

 I walked towards the garden with my tray in my hands. My body was going towards the garden but my eyes were fixed on the human's neck along with my tongue that licked my lips hungrily.
