She is sort of territorial with you in a way. You are her girlfriend, no one else's. When she sees someone flirting with you she immediately leaps into action and makes sure people know that you're taken and you're hers.
That made you feel more secure, because no matter what happens, the doctor will always make you remember that you're hers, and she will make sure that you're happy and know she will always be there for you.
After all, the doctor is the most compassionate woman in the universe.
