we woke up the next morning, enveloped by the scent of pancakes. i squirmed out of the blankets, leaving cleo, my cat, sleeping on one of the many pillows. i slid over olivia who was tiredly getting up. i walked into the kitchen with olivia trudging behind me, trying to wake up more.

"morning kiddo." he pulled me into a side hug, pressing me against his side.

"how are you?" i looked up at him, he kissed the top of my head.

he smiled, "better than her."

olivia looked up at the utensil being gestured to her direction rolling her eyes, "thanks, uncle elijah."

she laughed as now it was he who was rolling his eyes, as he hated when people called him that instead of eli. i don't understand why he doesn't like elijah but hey, whatever he prefers.

my phone vibrated in my pocket making my dad let go of me so i could do whatever i had to do.

half full is calling...

i set it on speaker, "hi an-" i started talking but he cut me off.

"GOOD MORNING!" he yelled from the other end.

everyone started laughing seeing as they could all hear his loud shrieking, "you're on speaker by the way. say hi to my dad and olivia."

"hello guys!" he said excitedly from the other end.

they said hi back, sparking up some small conversation. i shut my phone off of speaker holding my phone to my ear, putting my finger up to indicate that i'd be right back.

"you seem super happy, what's up?" i walked into the other room so i could talk to him privately.

"oh nothing, i just woke up in a really good mood."

"that's good." i smiled slightly.

"i should head back." thinking of leaving olivia as soon as we both woke up.

he sighed, "yeah, i'll let you back to it."

there was clear tension as silence drifted over, knowing that he liked me and well, that i liked him, made talking to him a little bit awkward. i was no doubt still open about things to him, but it was an obvious tension, even if he didn't know that i liked him back. i just got out of a relationship a few days ago, so it wouldn't be too fair to just hop over to 'the next guy', making it seem like cole was somewhat right.

"um, alright, bye anfony."

"yeah, bye mar."

i shut my phone off while shoving it back into my pocket, making my way towards the kitchen once again. olivia was piling up pancakes as i sat down beside her.

"these look delicious, dad. also, what happened with the thing you were making in the kitchen yesterday." i gestured to the spot on the counter where he was making his concoction.

he glared at me, "i gave up."

"what was it supposed to be?" olivia asked, i told her about it last night, seeing as it was hilariously funny to see my dad making that stuff, or at least trying to.
