Chapter 17

Ong
It has been a week since I ran away. I found a very cheap motel that I stay in for the mean time. I'm trying to find a job that pays well. I tried to apply to a fast food chain near the motel but they do not accept people who are not highschool graduates.

I am currently at a cafe called 'Bruan'. I am having black coffee since it is the cheapest drink they have that my money could afford. I cannot buy the drinks I like since I only have enough money to pay for my rent in the motel for 2 days.

"Oy Woojin! Why are you quitting?!", I heard a man yell at the back of the cashier.

"Sorry Mr. Chan but I need to go back to Jeju. My mother is sick and I need to take care of her. I loved working here, really. I appreciate all your efforts sir.", 'Woojin', as the man behind the cashier called him, walked out of the cafe and left.

"What are we going to do? We need a cashier asap!", I heard the man shout. This is my chance. I walked to the Mr. Chan.
"Hi sir, uhhh, I overheard I that you need a new cashier. Can I uhhh apply for the job?", I asked him.

"Yes! You're hired!" Wow that was quick.

"Is it okay if you start today? There's an extra uniform at the back and I really need a cashier now", he added.

"Uhh, sure Mr. Chan"

"Call me Chan, no need to get formal.", he told me and smiled. I awkwardly smiled back and went to the back room behind the cashier. When I entered, I saw a man between his 20's putting his shirt on. He looked like he isn't Korean. Is he british? I didn't realize I was looking at him for a long time until he giggled.

"Are you gonna stare at me the whole time? or are you gonna put your uniform on?", he asked me. I blushed and went to the cabinet that the british guy pointed.

"Hi, I'm Ben. You must be the new cashier.", he said.

"Hi uhmmmm, I'm Ong Seongwu but you can call me Ong", I told him.

"Huh, never met an Ong here in Korea. Like the name tho. Goodluck at your first day bud, it is not hard but I'll try to help you.", he said.
"Thank y-you", I answered and bowed.

I put on my uniform that is a bit large for me but a little belt will fix it. I walked out of the back room and saw Ben making coffee. Luckily, there is no people yet so I can practice for a bit. Ben showed me the prices of each drink and how to use the cash register thingy. I'm kinda getting used to it. I'm a fast learner after all.

It is currently 5:00 PM and there are loads of students hanging out and doing their school works here in the cafe. They look happy with their friends and laughing. I was jealous. I tried to push the painful memories that I had at the back of my mind and did my duties. Ben is looking at me from time to time. Our eyes met and he smiled at me. I blushed and tried to focus.

It is closing time when Ben came up to me. "Hey Ong, you look sad a while ago, why?", he asked me.

"Oh, ahhh it's nothing really. I really just miss being a student and going to school", I answered him.

"Oh? so you dropped out?", he asked.
"No, I was suspended but I ran away. I wanted to start a new life. I hated my life back then. I hate the people around me there. Here, I can finally start fresh and be myself again.", I told him and smiled. He smiled back and patted my back.

"You know Ong, life is just like that. One day, everything will be alright and you will be happy again. Here.", he gave me his phone.
"Type your number here, so whenever you need someone to talk to, I'll be there for you.", he said and smiled.

"Oh uh, I don't have a phone.", I said.

"Whattt? really? You're the first person I know who doesn't have a phone. Tomorrow, after the cafe closes, let's buy you a phone."
"But I don't really have enough money. I only have enough money to pay the rent of the cheap motel I stay in.", I said.

"You can come live with me for a bit. My apartment is just across this cafe. I can sleep at the couch and you can sleep in my bed since you're the guest.", he said and shrugged.

"W-what? No I can't do that. Thanks for the offer though"

"Nah, really. I don't mind you staying. I know we just met today but I want to get close to you. You're my new friend. I want you to feel comfortable and happy around me", he said. I blushed and just nodded. A friend. I finally have a friend. Is this the start of my
life finally getting better?

It has been a week since Ong's suspension and he still isn't going to school or even showing up. I heard that he left to Busan but I don't want to believe it. Sucks for him though.

So a new character! he is ben! he is british so y'all can imagine any british person as ben. i imagine ben as ben hardy since i've been very addicted to the borhap cast KSKSKSKKSKSKKSKS hope you liked it! also, there would be many time skips since I want ong to have a good life and daniel suffer LOL
