ERIC OPENED HIS MOUTH TO REPLY, but Klaus beat him to it.

"No dip Sherlock." He hissed, practically staring daggers at Five. The other boy didn't seem affected, keeping his gaze on Eric.

"Did they hurt you?" He questioned and the other boy shook his head.

"No, just scared me a bit. I think they're planning on hurting me though. They just wanted to get to you." He explained and Five rolled his eyes.

"Yeah well they did and they aren't even here to see it. Amateurs." He untied Eric quickly, then worked on untying Klaus. The door suddenly jingled, Five turned nervously.

"Shoot. They're back too soon. Sorry Klaus, I can't risk Eric getting hurt. I'll tell the others to get you." He said, grabbing Eric's hand and the dark skinned boy tried to ignore the shock of electricity that he felt when he did. Klaus shuffled in his chair, angry.

"Wait what-" but before he could finished he was gone. Eric was suddenly back at the academy, looking around abruptly.

"Woah!" He said, in shock about the fact that he had just teleported. Five watched him, amused.

"Yeah cool right?" He replied, smirking softly. Eric nodded quickly and grinned. The boys chuckled and suddenly Eric realized what had just happened.

"Wait we left Klaus, we can't just abandon him!" He suddenly shouted, grabbing Five's arm. The taller boy thought for a moment before patting Eric's back.

"Sorry doll. We couldn't do anything about him. I can't take on Cha Cha and Hazel while trying to keep you both safe. It wouldn't end well." He looked genuinely apologetic as he spoke so Eric found himself believing him.

"Okay... so what now?" He asked, tilting his head again slightly. Five thought for a moment, visibly thinking through his plan.

"Well I need to calculate something." He muttered, walking towards the stairs. Eric followed him as they walked back to Fives room. The brown eyed boy laid down on the bed with exhaustion as Five started writing down stuff on the walls. Eric couldn't help but spend the time thinking. He was very confused about a lot of things going on. Everything in his life was happening so fast. He had just been kidnapped then teleported and now is realizing that maybe a small part of him has a crush on Five. Which, this was not a good time for a silly crush.

"No that's not it..." Five mumbled, erasing some of his previous work. Eric went back to thinking. He wondered what it would even be like to date Five. Would he stay at the academy? Or would he have to go back to his old home, with his verbally abusive drunk mother. Eric didn't want to imagine this outcome, he didn't like it. Plus why couldn't he just stay at the academy? Everyone liked him here. Except maybe Luther, but Eric could see that even the mans own brothers didn't like Luther much.

"Hey doll, could you pass me that blue chalk beside the bed?" Five questioned softly, turning slightly. Eric glanced at the boys dresser and then got up, grabbing what was requested. Five nodded as he handed it to him and muttered,

"Thanks." Then the room was quiet again. Eric turned to the door, then looked back at Five.

"Hey where's the bathroom?" He asked, nervously for some reason. Maybe it's because he knew he wasn't really going to the bathroom. He just wanted to snoop, curse his curiosity. But he was in THE umbrella academy. He had such an urge to look around.

"The third door to the left." Five replied, not even looking up from the math he was doing on his own walls. Eric couldn't understand any of it but he didn't really want to. It looked complicated and stressful. As if Eric needed something new to stress about.

"Okay thanks." He mumbled, getting up and walking to the door.

"Don't get kidnapped this time okay?" Five jokes but Eric could hear the seriousness in his voice.

"I'll try my best." He replied dryly, walking into the hall. There were many doors, some open, some closed. Eric strolled the hall, dragging his hand against the wall as he walked. He immediately turned a corner and bumped into a woman. She looked old fashioned and sweet, Eric immediately took a liking to her.

"Hello darling." She said, cupping his cheeks. His eyebrows raised, confused.

"You must be Five's boyfriend." She said while patting his shoulder and that made Eric's eyes widen.

"What? Oh no that's not... we aren't.... I'm his..." Eric stuttered, thinking for a moment. Who was he to Five? The boy saved his life but does that make them friends?

"He's my friend." Eric finished with a light blush dusting his cheeks. He still didn't know who this woman was and she sighed contently as if hearing his thoughts.

"Awe I'm glad he made a friend. I'm his caretaker. You can call me Grace." She stated sweetly and Eric couldn't help but smile back at her. Her smile was contagious.

"I'm Eric. Nice to meet you, ma'am." His mother always yelled at him for being impolite to her friends who came over to smoke. Since then, Eric has tried his best to act like the perfect gentleman. Maybe it was ptsd.

"You too-"

"Mom." A voice spoke up. It was a man in all black with tan skin. He seemed rough but Eric notice the soft look he gave the woman. He probably was secretly a mama's boy. Anyone could tell.

"Yes, Diego?" She asked and Diego walked toward them, hesitating. Eric knew that name. This man was the one who threw knives.

"Who is this?" He questioned and Eric felt the need to back away. He hoped he could maybe a better impression with this brother and not have it be a repeat of his brief meeting with Luther. Although Diego looked like the type to be protective of his family.

"This is Eric, he's Five's boyfriend." She replied, oblivious to the way Eric's eyes widened for the third time. Didn't he already tell her that was a lie?

"Friend! We're friends!" He quickly added and Diego smirked knowingly. Eric didn't know why everyone thought they would just start dating or something when they just met. And when they're trying to stay alive.

"Wow. That kid just got back and he's already at it again. My names Diego, I'm his older brother. I think I saw you during the family meeting." He stated and Eric thought back to when he first stepped in the umbrella academy building.

"I guess I didn't see you,"

"Yeah with the way Luther was crowding you." Diego scoffed out and Eric could sense some sourness in there. A door opened across the hall and Five walked out, wiping his hands on his pants.

"I got it. I know how to save the world."
