Destiny's POV

"You know, sometimes I wonder if some friendships are supposed to last forever while others are to fade away like dust." Gabriel mutters, shattering the still silence that had opened up after he turned down his music.

I gave him a look of ennui. I was tired and nauseous from the lousy music and the binge-watching of Grey's Anatomy. I just wanted some sleep. Just sleep. Is that too much to ask for?

"I guess." I mumble. I don't know much about friendships. The ones I use to have just vanished. Or like how Gabriel put it, "they faded away like dust". I felt his eyes flicker on me but I refused to look at him. If I did, he would be able to see a hint of hurt and pain in my eyes. I just couldn't have that. No one should ever see me in that vulnerable state.

"We're here." He says in a low tone before exiting the car. I sigh in relief when he doesn't race over to open my door. I step out slowly and stare idiosyncratically at the gigantic mansion in front of me. Red bricks and dark oak wood was the obvious theme. But what caught my attention the most, was the number of people, flocking around with red cups in their hands. This party had only been going on for about an hour and the scent of booze penetrates the air like bullets.

I hold my hand over my mouth. My stomach was a large turmoil and everything that I ate for lunch was about to be thrown out.

"Excuse me" I say to whoever was beside me and quickly ran off in the direction I think I saw water. I stumble all the way to a large body of water, a lake. It was dark, murky and the moonlight bounces off of it like thrown stones. I clutch my knees tightly and dry heave.

Minutes later, when I'm convinced that I was okay and wasn't about to die, I made my way back to the front door. I scanned the unusually large living room for any signs of Gabriel. Again, music was deafening.

My eyes caught a glance at his brown curls. My lips parted to scream out his name, but at that exact moment is when I noticed Brittany, leading him up the staircase, holding his hand in her's. Her tight-fitted dress showed every inch of her curvy body.

I turned my head in a snap and pushed through the domino of people, all scattered across the room. After elbowing some people in the stomach and squeezing my way through the many tall bodies, I found myself finally at the stairs. I dragged myself up the stairs and into the direction in which I saw Gabriel and Brittany go. Surprisingly,  it led to a gazillion doors. All dark oak wood, all the same size. I wander around, lightheaded, trying to calm down my unorganized thoughts.

I sigh, hanging my head low. It was my fault for being so nosy and look what it got me. Completely lost. I swiftly spin on my heels to return to the party when I heard a soft hum of a voice coming from inside one of the rooms on my right. I turn to it and press my ear against it, just to see if it was Gabriel and Brittany.

"Sometimes you just have to let go. Not everything is worth the trouble." A low, deep voice mumbles.

"I know, but what if it was worth it and I let him go? I love him Dussy. I can't just forget him." A more feminine voice says.

"Well, just try-" before the deep low voice could finish his sentence, the door flies open. Not even realizing the bodyweight I had on the door, I fall into the room's red carpet.

"What the hell?" One unfamiliar voice says.
"Destiny?!" Another one calls. But this voice was familiar.

I wearily eye the tall figures in front of me. How the hell didn't I realize that they were leaving the room?
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

"Hello? Is this the bathroom?" I asked, offering a small innocent smile.

Great, great lie. But not good enough to fool your Uncle. That voice rings in my head. I shiver in great angst.
