Stuck

I guess I spoke too soon, the waves were suddenly humongous and so many came at once. As I was hit by the wall of water my non expecting body was taken and thrown back and forth between waves. When my head resurfaced i let out a couple breaths of reliefs then tried swimming into shore. Then suddenly I felt pain shoot up my leg. As I again attempted to swim to the sand that was only about 400 metres away I realised why I wasn't moving. Somehow my ankle had been wedged in between two large rocks that were on the sand bank. I took a breath then went under to see if I could free myself, only to find out that the rocks were actually large boulders that I would never be able to move.

I tried wriggling my ankle out but that just caused pain. It was like someone had put a nail gun on either side of my ankle and shot sending metal right through. This caused me to scream a murderous scream, gaining the attention of a few swimmers near by. Unfortunately they didn't think I was in any trouble as I wasn't too far from sure so left me.

I looked to see if I could find Maxi, but he was busy with another rescue. So I put my arm up remembering that lifeguards will see that you're in trouble if your hand is up. Being a child with no parent supervision seemed to make me a more urgent rescue as moments after my hand went up one of my brothers co-workers were in the water on a rescue board paddling towards me. Once they got closer I recognised that is was Jesse on the board. When he realised it was me his faded gained a confused expression.

"Kenzie? What are you doing out here, and why was your hand up?" He now seemed frustrated as he thought I was waisting his time knowing I'm well able to get my self back to shore.

"My ankle!" I said sobbing from pain.
"Yes it's a part of your body. What about it?" For someone who saves lives often Jesse doesn't catch on very quickly.

"It's stuck... I'm stuck. And it hurts!" He looks at me, then at the water. He jumps of his board then dives under to see the damage done. I feel his hands around my leg and as he tries to get me out I scream and burst into tears. He came back up and looked at me.

"I can't get you out without hurting you" he said recognising the pain on my face.
Then he looked at his hands and back at me.
"Actually I don't think I can get you out at all, the rocks won't budge and neither will your ankle."
All this time the tide had been rising and was now up to my neck. Suddenly a wave came and I was almost fully under. The water went back down a little but was still covering my chin.

Jesse looked really concerned then knowing that he was being watched by the tower waved for another lifeguard to assist him. I just prayed that it wasn't maxi as he would be angry if he knew I was in trouble. Then as the tide got deeper I don't care who came into the water I just wanted out.

Maxi's p.o.v

Whippet radioed in from the tower saying that Jesse needed help with some kid, I looked and saw Jesse holding a little girl that was nearly under and was confused why he didn't just put her on his board. But around here you don't ask questions so I grabbed my board and paddled as fast as i could to them. As I was getting closer I could've sworn that I knew the girl, then I got close enough to see that I knew her very well, it was my sister Kenzie. So many emotions filled my head, I was confused worried and sort of angry. She should be at home.

"What's going on" I say in one tone.

"It's her ankle, it's stuck and I can't get it free. The waters getting deeper Maxi we need to get her out fast!" At first the words from Jesse didn't register, then I saw how much pain my sister was in and started getting really worried.

"Trent it hurts!" Her little voice was so distressed and I hated seeing her like this.
"If we want to get her out we're gonna have to break it" Jesse said this and I knew he was right but looking at the fear on Kenzie's face broke my heart.
"Kenzie, I'm sorry but we have too." She started crying and I gave Jesse a look telling him to do it while I held her in a tight hug.
It isn't easy to break someone's ankle and it took multiple attempts as well as time we didn't have, the water was now past her mouth and she was struggling to keep her head up. As Jesse came up for air I yelled at him to hurry.

"Trent"
"Kenzie keep holding up your head"
"I can't, I'm tired, I'm sorry." Suddenly I could only see the end of her hair that was floating. She was fully submerged and I angrily dove down to Jesse, my strength multiplied at the thought of losing my sister and I forcefully twisted Kenzie's ankle over and over until it snapped and I was able to manoeuvre it out of the rocks.
