Chapitre 40 - En Quête

Seoul | 2020

Chaeyoung then drives again frantically this time. She heads to Mapo-gu. She stops at a minimarket, she grabs soju and beer with her. Next thing she knows, she's now in front of her apartment door, again. It's been countless times that she will be here wherever she missed her. 

She opens the door and roaming around the apartment door. She started drinking. It feels safe for her to take a drink at her house. At least no one has to know how desperate she is. Chaeyoung cries badly, she just can cry for now. Sometimes open her phone and saw old photos and throw away her phone. She sometimes opens her pandora box and makes a mess, throw away pictures as well. Most likely she will regret in the morning and tidying up everything again cause she knows it's the only memory she had with her.

No one knows her state, cause she didn't want to make everyone worry about her. 

In her drunk, Chaeyoung screams Mina names too many times. Crying too many times. Chaeyoung is sad but she didn't know what to do. She wants to search the whole country for her, she could do that if she wants to, she could travel across the nation she wants to. But for some reason, Chaeyoung can't do that, it against her wishes. She's desperate but can't do anything as she please. Chaeyoung lay down in her bed and continue crying.

In the morning she will feel like crap and go home after she washes, her family can't know about her state. But, her family isn't blind, she knows that Chaeyoung suffers a lot the past year. After she served in jail, Chaeyoung is indeed a little different, she became a lot quieter, she eats less than usual. Chaeyoung always keeps her emotion intact, but lately, she became even talk less.  But in front of her family and Yugyeom, she will put her happy mask. Simply, she doesn't want her close ones to worry about her. 

Her parents can't talk about her past because they know it's hurting her. Every time Chaeyoung go out late night on the weekend, her mom knows it's her way to vent out her problem. Her mom let her be. When she came back home in the morning, she rags of alcohol smell but managed herself to be always sober in front of her parents, especially Seojun. Her mom knows she's always in her apartment all this time, and trust her that she won't do anything stupid. Seeing Chaeyoung in a state like this, of course, hurts Chaeyoung's family and her close friends. Thank God she also pushes herself into work, at least her mind can subside.

Seoul | Early 2021

Chaeyoung stays late again in the office this Thursday, she needs to supervise her team, they got a big event next Wednesday and all the materials should be finalized by now.

Her cellphone then ring.

"Hello?"

"Chaeyoung-ah, are you still at the office?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Okay, stay there, I'll be there!"

"YA, GABE!"

He hung up. She's about to sleep for a while cause it's 10 pm. She needs a power nap to stay up all night.

"Chaeyoung-ah" Someone's knocking from the outside.

"Come in" Chaeyoung shouts from the inside.

"Wow, were you on a date? You look so neat"

"Handsome, right?" Yugyeom raised his eyebrows.

"Yeah, whatever. What are you doing here?"

"Chaeyoung-ah, I was just attending my company party"

Chaeyoung sits in her chair, still reading on her email, while Yugyeom standing explaining things to her.

"Okay," She's not interested.
